Review Amour Amour by Krista & Becca Ritchie

Title: Amour Amour
Authors: Krista & Becca Ritchie
Series: Standalone
Release Date: December 12th 2014

Synopsis

Love is a circus

"Every day,” he says lowly, “I hold a person’s life in my hands. The circus is based one-hundred percent off trust. I give it all to someone, and they give it all to me.”

The best aerial technique won’t land 21-year-old Thora James her dream role in Amour—a sexy new acrobatic show on the Vegas strip. Thora knows she’s out of her element the second she meets Amour’s leading performer. Confident, charming and devilishly captivating, 26-year-old Nikolai Kotova lives up to his nickname as the “God of Russia.”

When Thora unknowingly walks into the crosshairs of Nikolai’s after-show, her audition process begins way too soon. Unprofessional. That’s what Nik calls their “non-existent” relationship. It’s not like Thora can avoid him. For one, they may be partners in the future—acrobatic partners, that is. But getting closer to Nik means diving deeper into sin city and into his dizzying world.

Thora wants to perform with him, but when someone like Nikolai attracts the spotlight wherever he goes—Thora fears that she’s destined to be just background to his spellbinding show.

This sexy and exhilarating New Adult Romance can best be described as Cirque du Soleil meets the steamy, athletic romance of Center Stage.

*standalone & no love triangles—recommended for readers 18+ for mature content*

I really wish this book never ended. I really wish there were more about Thora and Nikolai. And I'm not usually one to read several books about and with the same couple. Of course, there are exceptions. Another book with these two would be one.

The heroine, Thora, decides to risk everything to chase her dream. To be in the circus. No, not the regular circus. Think Cirque du Soleil. But everyone tells her that it's insane, she's not talented and wouldn't make it. And after going to Vegas to try out her luck, she doesn't. I think that's one aspect of this book I liked. No, not that the heroine didn't make it, but the realism of it. It would have been too idyllic for her to go there and bam, land the role of her dreams, just like that.

Of course that she doesn't give up. That's something I really loved about Thora. She chose to always get up, dust herself off and try it again. And again. Hence why our hero, the very hot and intense Nikolai decided to be the one to help her out by training her.

Now Nik... He has his own baggage - three younger siblings that go crazy and he has to keep them under control. Hard feat. But I love them, and I love the Kotovas. They stick together, through thick and thin and they embrace and accept Thora, like she's one of their own.

"Some days I still wonder if I've found me. Maybe we never stop searching. Maybe we evolve the way seasons change, seamlessly without really knowing, not until all the leaves have fallen."

To be honest, this book spoke to me; some things really resonated and maybe that's why I loved it so much. Nowadays, I just go into a book, expecting to like it. Sad, but what can you do? Not this one. It will also stay with me, for a long time and I'll be rereading it, too.

Oh and really, I need a Nikolai Kotova in my life. Everyone needs a Nikolai Kotova in their lives.

5+++ stars and I really, really wish it never ended. Looking forward to more.

cooltext117966856926036 Shrinking Violet cover Forgiveness. From the time we’re old enough to understand the word, we’re taught to forgive those who wrong us, so what do you do when the one person you can’t forgive is yourself? For Cassidy Ashworth, it's a question that haunts her. Forgiveness has become a foreign concept. Self-loathing is something she’s much more familiar with. Convinced that she doesn’t deserve happiness, Cassidy is determined to spend every day trying to make up for the wrong she’s done. But no amount of repenting for the past will ever convince her that she's worthy of a future with Carson Langford. Raised in the foster system, Carson has always been a throwaway kid. He knows firsthand just how cruel life can be, how easy it is for people to prey on the weak, and there's nothing Carson detests more than a bully. So focused on his self-imposed role of protector, he never counted on the beautiful blonde with the haunted eyes to stumble into his life and shake up his world. Despite her reluctance, Carson is determined to have Cassidy in his life, but once the truth of her past comes to light, the question is…will he still want to keep her?

BrandingBorn and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That's why God created central air, after all. In addition to being a wife and mom, she's also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books--romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it's a passion...there's a difference. Not that she'd expect a boy to understand. Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Release Day Blitz + Review Tattered on My Sleeve by Autumn Jones Lake

Title: Tattered on My Sleeve
Series: Lost Kings MC #4
Author: Autumn Jones Lake
 Release Date: July 28, 2015

*Although this is the fourth book in the Lost Kings MC series, Wrath and Trinity’s story can be read first.

Blurb

Trinity Hurst.

That girl fucking owned me the minute I laid eyes on her. At twenty-one years old she already had a cold, calculating wall around her. The walls she built up around herself were designed to keep guys like me away. Underneath her tough girl exterior lay something sweet and vulnerable that I very much wanted to explore.

I had her first.

I fell in love with her.

Then we fucked everything up.

Wrath.

His name should have been lust. Pure, soul-shattering lust was the deadly sin I felt when I looked up—way up—into his ocean blue eyes. I should despise bikers. I should most definitely steer clear of this one, with his thick, muscled arms, and low sensual voice. My normally impeccable self-preservation instinct vanished the minute he walked in the door. Like everything else in my life, I fucked it up. And he’s never going to forgive me.

Old Habits Die Hard.

Wrath and Trinity met when the Lost Kings MC was on shaky ground. After three perfect nights together, Wrath knew she was it for him. But Trinty’s dark past was about to catch up to her and the Lost Kings MC was her only hope for protection. One misunderstanding led to a chain of mistakes that pushed them apart for years. When long-buried secrets are finally revealed, Wrath will stop at nothing to break their bad habits and make Trinity understand—she belongs to him.

Author’s note: There is no actual cheating in Tattered on My Sleeve.

Excerpt

Besides his job as enforcer for the Lost Kings MC, Wrath owns a gym. One of the ways he tries to reconcile with Trinity is by asking her to help him prepare for a fight. This is from one of the times they’re working together.

My attention is finally drawn to the papers Trinity has in her hands. “What’s that?”

“Oh, it’s nothing. I didn’t realize Jake was already… You asked me to put some stuff together… So never mind.”

She folds the papers in half before I snatch them out of her hands.

“Ow! Thanks for the paper cuts, asshat.”

Jake chuckles and grabs her hands to look them over. I can’t wait to get in the ring with him later and kick his ass while Trinity watches.

I’m impressed with what she printed out. I knew she’d be good at this. She’s got a week’s worth of circuit training exercises broken into different ones on each day. Each circuit includes a balance of strength and endurance exercises. I glare at Jake, and he takes the hint to get lost.

“You’ve done your homework,” I say, handing the papers back to Trin.

The corner of her mouth twitches down in disappointment. “You don’t think it’s any—”

“Is that what I said?” I hate snapping at her, but sometimes it’s the only way to get through her self-doubt.

“No.”

“Where’d you find some of these?”

“Are they too advanced for you?”

I tilt my head and stare at her. “Seriously?” She chuckles. “Good, then call me when you’re going to try the Front Lever. It looks sexy.” She spins away and heads back to the office.

Another I've waited many months for. I do have the knack of falling for side characters. And Wrath was no exception.

Of course that, at first, I didn't like him. He was an a-hole to Hope and Trinity, too. I don't know where and when, but that changed and I became #PropertyofWrath. I kept bugging Autumn about it, but she's so awesome and a sweetie, being patient with me and not getting mad. What can I say, I'm passionate about characters I love!

"I don't get on my knees for anyone. Ever."

We've all met Trinity in the previous books. She's the woman in charge of running the club house; cleaning, cooking. She's also a club momma. Now, the fact that a woman sleeps with men she likes, whenever she likes is not a big deal. However, in the MC world, there's no respect for women that do that. Outside of the LOKI MC, there was no respect for Trin. Of course that Rock's a sweetheart and has laid down the law, from the beginning. It was her choice.

Now, at first, I was pissed at Trinity. I didn't get it. She frustrated me to no end. I ached for Wrath. But, as the story progressed, we found out more and more and I started to understand, and really, it broke my heart. We all have a past. Some of us had it better than others. Trin was in the latter.

Wrath had his moments too. He'd piss me off - there's proof of that in a convo with Autumn, hah - then he'd say or do something and make me melt. Both of them are so complex and complicated but they make it work. Once they overcome some things - cough, Wrath pulls his head out of his lovely derriere, cough - all's well. Or, as can be expected in the MC world.

The many feelings I've had ranged from being pissed, frustrated, to teary-eyed, brokenhearted and wanting more. Yes, it's a long book but I still want more. It's Wrath, can you blame me? I loved it. I'm going to reread it, I'm sure of that.

It was one heck of a ride. 5 stars.

I wish to thank the author and Give Me Books for this copy given in exchange of an honest review.

P.S. Wrath is also #PropertyofIza.

Review HIM by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy

Title: HIM
Authors: Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy
 Series: Standalone
Release Date: July 28th 2015

Synopsis

They don’t play for the same team. Or do they?

Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wise-cracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were eighteen? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.

Ryan Wesley’s biggest regret is coaxing his very straight friend into a bet that pushed the boundaries of their relationship. Now, with their college teams set to face off at the national championship, he’ll finally get a chance to apologize. But all it takes is one look at his longtime crush, and the ache is stronger than ever.

Jamie has waited a long time for answers, but walks away with only more questions—can one night of sex ruin a friendship? If not, how about six more weeks of it? When Wesley turns up to coach alongside Jamie for one more hot summer at camp, Jamie has a few things to discover about his old friend...and a big one to learn about himself.

Warning: contains sexual situations, skinnydipping, shenanigans in an SUV and proof that coming out to your family on social media is a dicey proposition.

Teasers

I can't say I'm a huge M/M reader. I have read a few, most of them I loved. This is one of them.

I really loved both of our heroes. They're different, yet they're perfect together. Wes and Jamie became friends when they met one summer, and have been best of friends, until a dare changed everything. Wes was sure he screwed up, while Jamie was left with unanswered questions.

A few years later, they meet up again and they rekindle their friendship, and this time, it goes further than that. Wes is sure Jamie's being only bi-curious, but is he?

This story is funny; it's also one to make you swoon and boy, some scenes are really hot!

So, the Elle Kennedy - Sarina Bowen duo was a hit and I do hope they'll write more books together.

Another fave couple. 5 stars.

Character Interview

Character interview coming right up, with another a-hole that claimed my heart, thus making me #PropertyofWrath.

Wyatt 'Wrath' Ramsey [Tattered on My Sleeve by Autumn Jones Lake]

Ahhh, you sexy beast, you! I’ll just come out and say it: I didn’t like you, at the beginning. You were not among my favorites. But you grew on me, so much so, that I adore you, now. So, thank you for doing this interview.

Any time.

I know the MC life is everything to you. But have you ever thought what it would be like, had you taken a different path? If so, what?

I don’t tolerate bullshit well. I’d probably be in prison for murder.

What’s something that you’ve always wanted? From when you were a kid or older?

A good woman.

Have you ever thought of going pro in fighting?

Fuck no.

Do you like brunettes? Hah, joke! Or redheads. I’m thinking of dying my hair red again…

I’ve never discriminated based on hair color. But I only have eyes for one particular blonde these days.

What word would define you, stud muffin? Of course I have a few already in mind, but what do you think?

Furious. Trinity says passionate or persistent.

Would you love to start a family with Trinity? You’re planning on building a house; what about more? Yes, I’m asking about mini-Wraths and mini-Trinity’s, heh!

No. Anyone ever fucked with my kid, I’d probably kill them.

Okay, just a few more short questions!

Ask away.

Favorite movie?

Unbreakable

Favorite food?

Anything Trinity makes.

Favorite hobby?

Really? Fucking, fighting, riding. Take your pick.

Favorite band?

Five Finger Death Punch

Thank you! I’d also like to add the fact that you’re #PropertyofIza. I don’t know if you’ve been aware of this… *wink* Smooches!

I’m flattered. I think Trinity might have something to say about it. But I’m flattered.
Thank you.

Never fall in love with a bank robber.
Especially if she’s the one who robbed your bank, took you hostage, and dumped you unconscious at the local convenience store. And definitely not if you are the assistant district attorney of Tupelo, Mississippi.
This is the advice Hank Huckleberry Rivers would have given himself, back when he was a man who vowed to always walk on the right side of the law. The same law that had seemed sacrosanct ever since the day he and his friends watched as two men were murdered right below their tree house.
Falling in love with a dangerous criminal can have life-altering consequences, though. And when the past and the present meet head-on, Hank finds himself in more trouble than he ever bargained for. He must run to save his life, daring to find answers to the questions threatening his safety and his heart, as the killer below the tree house comes after Hank—and his pistol-wielding bank robber.
It’s a simple case of love in the first degree.

Excerpt

Pistol grinned, trying to hide her smile but failing miserably.

“I know you’re grinning over there.” There were two grins on each side of the line now. “I wish I could’ve been there. I love me some roasted weenies. That mean ole grave keeper, he wasn’t too pleased, though. He had laid some of those real good people to rest. And he didn’t like the idea of anyone disturbing them. Oh no, he sure didn’t. He put out a wanted sign asking all kinds of people about—who done it. As they say, dead men tell no tales, but you go poking around and sometimes those that are left behind, they tell the tales.”

“Big pickins for that old grave keeper, huh?”

“Well, let’s just put it this way. He’s offering more than a dollar and a bunch of pickles.”

“See you in ten,” Pistol said.

“Woo hoo,” they went, and the call went dead.

When I first started this book, I thought the group of boys reminded me a bit of the boys from  Sandlot, the movie. Not that they played baseball, but just the dynamic of their friendships. I thought it was cute and quirky.

One unluckybday, they witness a few murders, and life changes for our boys.
Thank, who wanted to be a bank robber to get all the ladies, ends up becoming a lawyer.
On his best friends bachelor party day, he and his brother, Curly, are caught in a robbery at the bank. This isn't just any ole robbery though, it's almost like a circus act. A well choreographed scene, played out for the victims. This is the day Hank falls in love...

"The outlaw and the district attorney had fallen in love, both seeking justice, just in two different ways"

This story is a perfect blend of romance, suspense, and humor.
It was also my first Welch book, and I have to say, I'm now a fan. I loved the feel of this story. I could see it in my head. I loved the picture she painted for me, I almost felt like I was in another era. Half expecting saloons and duels and all that fun Western stuff.

I definitely enjoyed this one, and if you like fast cars, and gun toting woman, this one's for you.

I give this a 4 pistol waving stars

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California).

Her writing career began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightening bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn't stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm.

When she's not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. Deciding on a whim to hitch up those same wagons, Annie currently resides in Texas (where everything is bigger) with her husband, daughter, and their two peculiar dogs, Boudreaux and Tabasco (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).
