Excerpt

His laughter, it didn’t really sound the smallest bit amused. “Christ. You’re done here.”
“Ah, no. I’m actually not. Now see, this is where we have a problem.” I folded my arms. Then unfolded them because like fuck I’d look defensive. He was the one in the wrong, not me. “You’re not prepared to take me, or my feelings, seriously. What you want is to hide away in Mr. Too Cool for Commitment land and just play with my affections when it suits you. Okay, I’ve accepted that. But none of that means it’s okay for you to come in here and act like you’re the boss of me. None of it.”
“That so?” he asked, leaning down so that we were almost nose to nose.
“That’s so, baby.” I play-punched him in the shoulder, which it should be noted, I barely came up to. Okay, so maybe the alcohol on a mostly empty stomach had made me slightly/lots braver/sillier. “So why don’t you take your little caveman jealous tantrum bullshit somewhere else. See, I do this funny thing I like to refer to as whatever the fuck I want. Understand?”
He just stared.
“And as pretty as you are with your beard and your muscles, you are too damn tricky and . . . complicated and shit for me.”
“I am?”
“Yes, you are. Are you finally seeing my point here?”
“You bet.”
“Excellent. So take your hotness elsewhere, kind sir. I want no part of it!” Huh. I had so told him. Drunken bravado was the best.

Review Kulti by Mariana Zapata

Title: Kulti
Author: Mariana Zapata
Series: Standalone
Release Date: March 20th 2015

Synopsis

“Trust me, I’ve wanted to punch you in the face a time or five.”
When the man you worshipped as a kid becomes your coach, it’s supposed to be the greatest thing in the world. Keywords: supposed to.

It didn’t take a week for twenty-seven-year-old Sal Casillas to wonder what she’d seen in the international soccer icon—why she’d ever had his posters on her wall, or ever envisioned marrying him and having super-playing soccer babies.
Sal had long ago gotten over the worst non-break-up in the history of imaginary relationships with a man that hadn’t known she’d existed. So she isn’t prepared for this version of Reiner Kulti who shows up to her team’s season: a quiet, reclusive, shadow of the explosive, passionate man he’d once been.

Nothing could have prepared her for the man she got to know.
Or the murderous urges he brought out in her.

“Sal, please don’t make me visit you in jail. Orange isn’t your color.”

This was going to be the longest season of her life.

Author Bio

Mariana Zapata began writing love stories soon after she learned how to spell. She probably shouldn't admit that she started sneaking romance novels from her aunt's bookshelves way before she was old enough to even understand what it meant when a man flipped up a woman's skirt. (Don't tell her mom.) Luckily, she learned to love the process of two people falling in love instead of all the other juicy stuff.

Mariana is a native Texan living in a small town in Colorado with her husband and two beloved (and emotionally manipulative) Great Danes, Dorian and Kaiser. When she's not pretending to write, she's reading. You can usually find her burning somewhat edible experiments in the kitchen or cracking jokes at the expense of her family members.

She also loves to hear from her readers!

Under Locke

I was waiting for this book to be out since last year. The wait for worth it.

"It was the worst non-break-up ever in the history of imaginary relationships with a man who didn't even know I existed."

Sal is beyond awesome and she always cracked me up. I love her and her driven way. She doesn't just wish for something; she goes right after it. She saw Reiner Kulti play and she wanted to be just like him. Some bumps may have been along the road and she may not have ended up in the best of places, but she loved it, she loved her team.

So imagine her surprise when she found out her idol and retired soccer player, Reiner 'The King' Kulti would be her coach. Cue incoming panic-attack that showed itself on a press conference - that part made me laugh my soul out.

Of course that a made-up image you have of your idol - who, let's face it, can never do wrong - is something sacred; your idol is sacred. But when she came face-to-face with him, only to learn differently... Thing is, Kulti's just a human being - and Sal kept reminding herself of this by having a funny mantra - and he has a past and secrets. I also love the side characters - Sal's dad was awesome.

But, I have to say, he surprised me. He was also my very first soccer player hero I've read about. Mariana did say this book was different from Lingus and Under Locke. Both of them kept us waiting for when the main characters would finally realize there's something between them; they would finally kiss and well, let's face it, give us some hot scenes. *tipping imaginary hat to my favorite tattoo artist ever, Dex* Kulti didn't disappoint. It took him, quite a while, but he got there with Sal and it was hot. It was also swoon-worthy. He's not a man of many words but when he does open his mouth to speak...

"I came to the Pipers for you."

By the way, I want to thank Mariana from the bottom of my heart for giving me a major surprise in this book, a scene that left me mush. MUSH, I'm telling you! It was something I've been dying to read and the fact that she wrote it in... I'm not going to say what it is, you'll have to read to see.

I'm just going to end this review with my rating of 5 stars - can't wait to see what MZ's working on next - and with the advice to read this book. Why?

I am ashamed it took me this long to read but time was not my friend.

This is a perfect continuation to the series, to everything that is Rock and Hope; problems that are not solved easily and choices that have consequences. I love that I can imagine their story in real life.

And the bits and pieces I got of Wrath were pretty damn awesome and really, Autumn, you dropped that bomb and all I'm thinking about is, "WHAT announcement?" I'm thinking of a thing that was kinda hinted at and I sure hope that is it! Of course, we'll know when we'll finally get his and Trinity's story. Which cannot be soon enough.

I also loved that we got to see more of the other members and their so-called relationships - some are more complicated than others, hoo boy - and really, Autumn will deliver them all perfectly. She didn't fail with Rock and Hope. I know she'll do all of them justice.

I want to thank Autumn for a copy given in exchange of an honest review; these characters are near and dear to me, and I'll always want more of them.

5 stars. No doubt about it.

Title: WAR by Isabel Lucero.
Blog tour 30th march- 5th April
Hosted by: Two Ordinary Girls and Their Books.

✦ Synopsis:
My father was the leader of a protection racket; a criminal group that uses violence to ensure our clients won’t be harmed or robbed, and that their businesses will remain protected. What we do isn’t legal, but it’s the way we’ve lived for many years now. Memphis Reed—my father—was formidable. He was a man people both respected and feared. He taught me everything he knew, and when he died I was left in charge. Before his death, a battle was brewing on the streets. Lies were told, deceptions were made, and people were killed. People we thought we knew changed, relationships and friendships were torn apart, and loyalties were questioned. After his death, a full on war is raging, and Roman Rios—a man we now know we can’t trust—wants to move in on our business. With me now being the leader of nine men, it’s up to me to protect them from Roman and his own crew of ruthless criminals. I’ll do whatever’s necessary to keep my business my own and protect everything my father worked for. Even if I have to go up against Xavier Delgado. Roman’s number two. A man with no heart and a black soul. A man Roman trained to be as vicious and cold-blooded as he is. A man who once upon a time I thought I was in love with. Yes, I’m a she. My name is Chevelley Reed, and all’s fair in love and war.

Manwhore by Katy Evans Review and GIVEAWAY

Review

Honesty & Loyalty....

I cannot tell a lie. I actually didn't think I would like this book once I started.
While reading, I was mostly focused on liking Malcolm...HARD. He's super intense and a man of few words. He is an action kind of guy, and very alpha in all ways. I didn't think I would like Rachel, and how she would be written. By that I mean, over explanations on her thoughts and feelings ((on a "scientific" level)). Some of that stuff could be cut out. We get it, we know how you feel after the first few sentences. With that being said, Rachel turned out to be an h I liked for the most part. I loved the fact she was heavy into campaigning against violence, and stood up strongly against it. I loves it even more when Malcolm took an interest in it more for her sake. ((Mural prints, enough said)). I just wished she could have come to her moral senses a lot quicker than she did, but then again, we wouldn't have such a (sad) story. I also loved her loyalty to her mother and her best friend, Gina. I think she is a very admiral and loyal to a fault.

I just want to reiterate how much I loved Malcolm. I'm still thinking about his intensity and is green eyes, both on fire and made of ice. By the end of this book, you are just going to be heartbroken, and yes ladies and germs, it is a doozy of a cliffy, but Malcolm is so worth it.

#Ilickedhimheismine

4 stars for overall story, 5 stars to Malcolm Saint (Sin).
