#SAVEMAX The Consequences of Loving Revenge by Rachel Van Dyken

#SAVEMAX

After losing his best friend to another guy, the notoriously too-confident Max Emory suddenly feels lost. He may have devastatingly good looks, an abundance of charm, and a claim to one of the biggest hotel empires around, but he has no ambition anymore. So when his fed-up friends decide they’ve had enough of his moping, they sign him up to be the next bachelor on the reality series Love Island. And between his pride and his forged signature on an ironclad contract, Max just can’t say no.

Now he’s stranded in paradise with twenty-four women, one terrifying goat, and Becca, the breathtaking barista who already turned him down back home. The closer Max gets to Becca, the more determined he becomes to win her over. As she gets to know him better, things start heating up. But is Becca really after Max’s heart—or is she after the cash prize she could claim once the cameras stop rolling?

Review Blitz Revelry by Carmen Jenner

Title: Revelry
Series: Taint #1
Author: Carmen Jenner
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: May 25, 2015

Blurb

Cooper Ryan is living the dream. Between the parties with rock royalty, booze, groupies and performing to crowds of thousands with his band Taint, life seems pretty sweet. There’s just one thing missing: the feisty little red-head that took his baby and ran off with his heart. Throwing himself into music is the only thing keeping him sane.

Until a run-in with a nonplussed, package-wielding PA throws everything off balance.

Ali Jones is having a craptastic life. Her grandmother died, leaving her homeless, penniless, and alone, and her boyfriend left her for a tramp who takes her clothes off for money. That’s why when she lands her dream job at a record company it seems like it’s too good to be true.

Because it is.

Slapped with an ultimatum, Ali must decide if facing the horror of the unemployment line is a fate worse than going on the road with four rowdy rockers hell-bent on making her life misery.

He’s adored by millions.

She’s not even loved by her cat. Can they ignore their hatred long enough to survive the tour from hell? Or will their chemistry force everything to come crashing down around them?

Excerpt

My vision is partly obstructed by Ali, but the sight of her head bobbing as she takes him in her mouth is all I need to know what’s going on. Levi meets my gaze across the limo. There’s gloating there—that much is obvious—but there’s also understanding. When you spend as much time together as we do, you come to know your bandmates pretty well. For all his talk, he’s not as big of a douche as he claims to be. He may not ever sleep with the same woman more than once—with the exception of Ali, I guess—but I know he’s not immune to the loneliness our lifestyle creates. It’s strange how you can be adored by millions and yet completely alone all at the same time.

He slides his hand into her hair and closes his eyes, throwing his head back against the seat.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck,” he whispers, and then he gathers her hair to the side and shifts her body so that my view is completely unobstructed. I watch as she works her hands up his shaft in time with her mouth. He doesn’t attempt to fuck the back of her throat and make her choke on it, the way we both had that first night we fucked her. Instead, his touch is gentle. Reverent.

It makes me crazy, and hot as fucking hell. I shift uncomfortably, adjusting my cock within my jeans. I don’t make a move towards them, though I want to. I want to bury myself inside her and mark her as mine, but at this point the lines are so fucking blurred it doesn’t matter whom she belongs to. Him. Me. The both of us, or neither one.

I lean forward, taking a glass from the shelf and a crystal decanter filled with amber liquor, and I pour myself a drink, and then I slide back into the leather to watch.

“Play with yourself, Red,” he whispers.

“No.”

“Do it,” I say, and she turns around to glare at me. I can’t tell if she’s disappointed I’m not joining in, or if she forgot I was even here.

“I don’t want—”

“Why are you suddenly so embarrassed?” I say sharply, swigging back more of the scotch than I should.

“I’m not embarrassed. I’d actually rather that you joined in.”
“I’m watching,” I say, eyeing her coolly over my glass. She scowls at me a moment and then she kneels up, steadying herself with one hand on Levi’s thigh. She wriggles her skirt up over her hips and bends over. Everything is on display as she takes him in her mouth again. I close my eyes, not wanting to watch her on her knees in front of him, her head bent low, her full fuck-me lips wrapped around Levi’s cock. I feel as if I’m on a ride that’s spinning out of control and I can’t find a way off. I can’t make it stop. And I so badly want it to stop.

Oh boy. This is going to be a little hard for me.

I've been waiting to read this book, since I found myself - unexpectedly, I might add - as part of Team Cooper, rooting for him, instead of Jackson.

I've started the book and fell for it. I was sure it was going to be the book to ruin me for many to come; to give me the hangover of all hangovers. The first part was hilarious, though my heart was breaking for Cooper.

And this is where I choose to not go on anymore. Writing the review, I mean. I've read the book, it did, indeed, give me all the feels but not necessarily the good ones, after a certain %. Thing is that I'm bound to write a spoiler, so I'm going to stop at this and will expand it, in the near - or distant - future, explaining everything. Because all of the above written looks like I'm out of it, or something.

I'm not.

I'm only saying one more thing: 3.5 - 4 stars, really weak 4 stars, so more like 3.75? I do want to thank the author for the copy given in exchange of honest review. It's just that I choose the right time on when to expand on said honesty. I liked it, but I didn't.

Favorite Quotes from Ivy:

"He was always there, no matter where he was. I knew his location in the club the entire night. I didn't even have to look for him to know. It's like my body was a broken compass and it only ever pointed due north. And Braeden was that exact coordinate."

"Who sprinkled the bitch in your coffee this morning?"

"He gave the kind of kisses a girl sank in to. The kind that robbed your body of gravity, robbed your mind of reason and sent ripples into your soul."

The Hashtag Series #4

It’s all about the #selfie.

She was the one girl I never wanted.

Until I had her.

One night.

One mistake.

Something we both wanted to forget.

I got rid of the proof. The one piece of evidence that could remind us both.

At least I thought I did.

When it shows up on the school Buzzfeed rumors fly. Friendships are tested and the feels get real.

I don’t do relationships. I don’t open my heart.

Especially for a girl everyone knows I hate.

What happens at spring break, stays at spring break.

Until it follows you home.

✴✴BLOG TOUR & GIVEAWAY~ SHUTTERGIRL BY CD REISS✴✴

I am not hurt.

I don’t need a second chance with him, or a life I thought I had.

While he was out forgetting me to become a movie star, I was building a career out of nothing. A career as a paparazzi, but a career. For a foster kid who bounced around every home in Los Angeles, that wasn’t easy.

This camera is all I have.

He’s nothing to me. Every time I take his picture and sell it, I remind myself that I did it all without him or his approval, his cinnamon smell or his lithe body. He can light up the screen like a celestial body, but he’s nothing to me.

He can throw my camera off a balcony, and nothing has to change. We can stay king and queen of the same city, and different worlds.

Except this is Hollywood, and here, anything can happen.

This is the first book I've read by C.D. Reiss, but I have her others on the "to be read" pile. I was impressed by her writing style, it flowed very smoothly.

Laine is a papparazza, specializing in her high school crush, Michael. Michael is now a movie star, but he's the sweetheart, the dependable guy. Michael and Laine re-connect when he throws her camera over the balcony. Laine realizes that hanging out with or dating Michael is career suicide, but she can't resist the temptation and draw she has to Michael.

"I knew I was going to kiss him. But I didn't realize what kind of kiss I would get. It wasn't a sweet brush of the lips, but a groping, hungry meeting of bodies."

Michael has always thought of Laine, the girl who sat on the bleachers in high school. He secretly loves that she's there photographing him. He's as drawn to Laine as she is to him. He doesn't care that she doesn't fit neatly in his world.

"Laine, I want you. I care about you. You give me something I've never had before. You're a devil in high heels, but you....God I want you. You. Your body, yes, but everything else, too. I want to make everything in your world right. I can't help it. Let me in. Just let me in."

When Laine's past threatens to harm her, Michael steps in to try to rectify it and the situation snowballs from there. I think they both gave up a bit too easily, but at the same time, I think it needed to happen so they were sure of what they wanted going forward. It was quite an enjoyable read.  I give it 4.5*.

***ARC received for my honest review.***

This is Christine's first contemporary novel and I must say she did an excellent job.

I admire her way with words. She takes an action, and makes it her own and makes it beautiful.

I will admit, I was a liiiitle leery going into this, as actors aren't a favorite topic of mine. BUT, she has found a way to make it interesting, by using the other side of the coin.

Here we have a paparazzi woman and an actor. She's famous in her own right as "Shuttergirl", being a woman in the pap industry, but not just a woman, she's VERY good at what she does. Until she gets caught in the limelight and things get a little Topsy-turvy for her. The story between the two has that "forbidden fruit" or "star-crossed lovers" feel to it. It’s very intense and very captivating.

"He was my under the covers. He was my Los Angeles"

"She was right. It hurt, but she was beautiful, and she was right."

Of course, things are an uphill battle for the two lovers, but in this case, the angst and heartache is a necessary evil. I don't believe they could have become the people they have without their struggle.

"I'd been through a lot. I earned my tears. This snot-shooting, breath-catching blubber was mine, and I deserved it."

In the chaos Laine discovers who family is and what she wants to be in life and Michael gets to be a free man and live his life the way he's always wanted. Once they both figure out who they are, things click into place, and the pieces make a whole for this HEA.

I really can't say enough on how much I liked this take on a story that has been told many times before, she put a new spin and a light on it and made it her own. I really like her brain ;)

The only downside was there was a slight lull around 20/30-ish%  but, you get over the hump and right back into an engaging story.

I give the story 4.5 camera flashing stars

Favorite Quotes from Rimmel:
"It's the sound of your voice. The way your eyes always hold so much devotion, so much promise with every single glance. It's the way your body rotates just slightly toward mine when I enter the room. It's your awareness of me, Romoe. Your intuition. You could be all the way on the other side of the room, and I'd still feel more protected - more loved - than I ever had."
