Book 3: Corps Security
RELEASE DATE: December 23, 2013
Synopsis:
**Warning** This book is intended for a mature reading**
~DEE~
I’ve always been good at wearing masks. Not
letting anyone see the real me. I’m content being the happy-go-lucky best
friend. The strong willed boss. The independent woman who doesn’t need a man.
But the truth is I’m just as broken as the rest
of you. I’m terrified that all it will take is one person to make all my
carefully constructed walls crumble into fine dust. So I guard my heart with
everything I have. Determined to never let anyone get close enough to hurt me
again.
All is perfect until HE walks into my life. No…
he doesn’t just walk. He struts his good-looking, sex-oozing self-right into my
space and demands that I see HIM. Making me want what I know I can’t have.
So I did the only thing I know how to do.
I run.
But he just won’t let me go.
~BECK~
The second I see her, I know she will be mine. I
see past the gorgeous smiles and heart-stopping laughter. I see HER. She
doesn’t want me to know her secrets or the past that haunts her, but I make it
my mission to find out.
To make her mine.
She can run all she wants, but it will never be
far enough to stop me from coming after her.
She’s it for me and she knows it.
She’s just too scared to admit it.
**NO
cliffhanger, HEA, inter-connected standalones**
About the Author
Harper lives in small
town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and
her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to
her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books;
you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached. As an ex-reviewer and
blogger, Harper's passion for reading runs deep. It wasn't until 'Axel' decided
to take up residence that she realized her true calling.
She started using
writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a
house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long
before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their
story told.

Reviews:
It’s really no secret how much I just love this
series. How Maddox Locke is my #2. I loved Axel and Cage but I really can’t
tell you how much I adored Beck.
It’s really no secret how much I just love this series. How Maddox Locke is my #2. I loved Axel and Cage but I really can’t tell you how much I adored Beck.
First, because it’s so much better. How can it be
better? There are so many answers in this book, so many hints and you just have
to put two and two together because it’s been right in our faces, this entire
time.
Second, I think Beck and Dee’s story was, by far,
the best and I know the one I would love even more would be Maddox and Emmy’s
story. But Beck and Dee? Wow. We see things through their eyes and we find out
just how everything really is. For a
while, I wasn’t Izzy and Greg’s fan. At all.
Beck? Holy hell, if I hadn’t already been
head-over-heels in love with Locke, I would have surely fallen for him. Why?
Simple. He’s perfect. Just damn perfect. Sure, he’s an Alpha, possessive and
sometimes jealous guy but really, that’s just part of his appeal. He loves Dee
and even when she pushes him away, he’s still there and refuses to go and give
up on her. That was… it just simply melted my heart.
And Dee’s wrong. Even with all
her nasty memories and experiences, she’s
still strong and she managed to pull herself out of the dark and she did this
by knowing she needed help and asking for it.
How to keep this review spoiler free?
Suffice it to say, it’s a major rollercoaster, you
are just recovering from one blow when another one sneaks up on you. No, better
yet smacks you hard, taking you by surprise. Love. Laughter. Friendship.
Family. Heartache. Oh, the heartache. You have it all.
P.S. I’m even more in love with Maddox Locke. I’ve
even asked Harper how she did that and she said, “Magic.” True. Fact is,
he’s finally come to his senses and oh boy, am I rooting for him and Emmy and
waving those pompoms around but before his story, there’s Coop’s.
I give it five stars.
Here are just a few of my fave quotes:

“He looks at me as if he only has eyes for me. With
a devilish smirk on his face, and his brown eyes smiling, he’s saying everything
that he can’t say out loud just with a look.” ~ Dee
“It feels as if he is looking right into my soul and
seeing everything I have never wanted anyone to see. He sees me.” ~ Dee
“Just because you let someone in doesn’t mean you
have to stop protecting yourself. It just means you have someone to share the
job with.” ~ Maddox
“She looks terrible, but she’s never looked more
beautiful to me. She’s stripped bare and vulnerable, right now. This is Dee, my
Dee, and not some fancy farce that she projects to the world around her.” ~
Beck
“She thinks I saved her but the truth is, she saved
me.” ~ Beck
***ARC received in exchange of honest review***
I'm not sure what to make of this one. I love the series, but this one fell short of
what I expected and hoped for. Parts of Beck I loved, other parts just got
long. Let me try to explain without giving away any spoilers, so I apologize if
I'm talking around stuff or in code.
Dee cried a lot and is very high maintenance. I realize she
has had events that cause issues, which make her cry but I was just lacking in
sympathy for Dee. In my opinion if the core reasons were more developed or at
least written about more (no need to go all deep) I would probably would have
felt more sympathy and connection to her issues.
Now for Beck. I liked
him a lot. His commitment and loyalties are amazing. Though I felt bad for him,
he had to always be strong and take care of Dee. ALWAYS. Just got repetitive
and frustrating.
Now parts of the book shocked me, made me cry, and left me
wanting for more. I cannot wait for Cooper and Locke. Both have been set up in Beck, these will be
fantastic. I cannot wait. So even though
this book fell short for me, it has not ruined me for the series or author.
I'm rating it as a 3 1/2 stars, usually I bumped up when I
decide which star block to fill out. But I cannot in good conscious mark 4
stars for Beck, it was just not a four star in my opinion.
*** I received an ARC for an honest opinion, obviously
I've been completely honest ***
"I only have myself to blame." ~ Dee
This book starts out as an intro to Denise
"Dee" Roberts and how she wears a mask in front of everyone to
project happiness on the outside, but inside she is lonely and unhappy.
The book tells the tale briefly from the beginning of
Axel, to bring you up to date on Dee's point of view through the whole story, and why she had continually put Beck on the back burner. You may have thought
she was just being a bitch through the other 2 books, but you never really knew
why.
Well in this book, you find out why.
"You've had a lot of shit in your life." ~ Mad
"Well, leave it to Mad to break it down like that." ~ Dee
This book to me was completely emotional. I had tears in
my eyes through just about the whole book. It wasn't sobs, just silent leakers.
The things Dee went through and the pain she felt, I felt right along with her.
"Patience wasn't even a factor. When
you love someone, you fight. You fight for them, and you fight with the. She
needed me to fight for her then, and I'll continue to do that until the day
she can fight for herself again." ~ Beck
Beck is my hero. He never stopped fighting for Dee, and
was solely the only one there for her during her troubled times, even if she
wouldn't allow it. You could even say he was the silent hero.
Of course this wouldn't be an official Corps Security
book without some sort of drama unfolding. You always need a bad guy. Do we
ever get one, too.
Things take a turn for the worse for other
people and more situations unfold within this story. I am not going to spoil it
for you readers, but I will say, it is tragic, sad, and unexpected...but with
that also come new opportunities and love.
I can't wait to see where book 4 will take us. I imagine
there will be tons of struggles but lots of love in the end.
I give this book 4 stars
