“I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It’s undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you’ve paid off your debts.”
Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors past. The dark ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave. She has no choice in the matter.
She is no longer free.
Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his twenty-ninth birthday. Her life is his until she’s paid off a debt that’s centuries old. He can do what he likes with her—nothing is out of bounds—she has to obey.
There are no rules. Only payments.
A modern day Dark Erotic Romance

Excerpt: Debt Inheritance:  Meet Jethro & Nila

ONE - Nina's POV
Huge disappointment, Ms. Weaver.” His cold glare sent a snowstorm wiping away the bonfire in my belly. “I’m done playing games, so cut the bullshit. Time to begin the day.” His voice gave no room for interpretation. A cold draft shot down my back.
My brief reprieve from debts and horrible Hawks was over. I’d been shown something I desperately wanted, but denied it because I failed to please him.
“You could teach me…show me how…” I couldn’t make eye contact with him. Mortification painted my cheeks for both admitting I was clueless and asking a monster to coach me.
Jethro laughed. “You think that will save you from what’s coming? Was that your little plan? To make me fuck you in the hopes I might feel something for you?”

TWO - Jethro's POV

I stood up slowly, clicking my tongue. “Ah, ah, ah, Ms. Weaver. Don’t take that tone with me. You’re the failure. You’re the prisoner. You take what I give you. You do not assume to have any say or authority. That includes listening to everything I deem important to tell you.” Ghosting to a stop in front of her, I murmured, “Is that quite understood?”
I flexed my muscles, welcoming back the soothing chillness of control. I hadn’t liked stepping outside my confines of civility. Things got messy when silence was disrupted. Things got rushed when tempers rose and curses flowed.
And I didn’t want to rush her undoing. I wanted to savour it. Devour it.

GIVEAWAY
Signed Swag Pack (2 Winners)
ebook of Debt Inheritance (5 Winners)

I think my mind is blown and we've only just gotten a taste of the beginning...

I'll start with Nila. There are moments when she's so unsure of herself and not knowing who she is, having lived a sheltered life due to her brother and father. Just as she's carving out a piece for herself Jethro shows up. In light of this situation there are moments when she's so, so strong. I can see her growing as a character through the book.

Jethro, tall, dark, and stone cold. What is it about badass assholes that I like so much?Through the book he's stone and ice, but there are cracks. I can't wait to break through, and you can feel it coming.

Does it end on a cliffy? Hell yes, but it isn't the mother of all cliffys that will leave you all "what dafuq!?!?". It more left me with hope, hope that she can out run everything, While the sadistic side says, I hope not, I want to see what happens! *evil grin*

This story had my whole body clenching in anticipation. Waiting on all sorts of outcomes. I think this is by far one of my favorites by PW. I will say though there is part of the story that threw me off making me feel like it was just thrown in to be more " interesting ", news flash, its interesting enough! ;) I hope to see where she takes it though. I am interested to see old law mingled with new law.

I give this book 3.75 stars

Debt Inheritance (Indebted, #1)Debt Inheritance by Pepper Winters

I am a big fan of Pepper's books so I was eager to get my hands on this one. I was also jonesing to read it because from the teasers I had no idea how it was going to be. I knew that it was suppose to be dark, but the premise of it sounded like nothing I've read before, inheriting a person like one would property. I've read slave and human trafficking stories before but never such formal slave inheritance.

Nina is a high end clothing designer. Although rich and famous in her own right, she is a Weaver, a wealthy, well-known, glamorous family. Capable of having the world at her fingertips, she only concerns herself with her three loves: her twin brother, her father and her sewing.

Jethro is heir to the Hawk family throne. The Hawk's are basically a love-less royalty, a machine. They have strict codes and rules that must be followed no matter what.
I'm a Hawk but blood doesn't flow in my veins. I'm born of a substance unbeatable by any other—diamonds. I'm a smuggler. I'm a dealer. And I'm about to become...a killer.

The ancient customs declare that the firstborn Hawk son must take ownership of the firstborn Weaver daughter in repayment for a debt spanning the generations.
I truly was Cinderella, only my prince threw away the glass slipper and stole me away before midnight struck. My prince was evil. My prince was the villain.
I couldn't breathe.

This is just the first installment of the Indebted series so many questions go unanswered. Several clues have been given. Many details and hints have been dropped, but it's hard to tell where the story is going to take us. I believe the jobs of the families, their last names, the bird artwork, extended talk of different jewels, all of this and several other things have significant meaning. Anyone that knows me knows that I love trying to figure out symbolism and hidden meanings. I just don't know the direction where Pepper is headed with it.

There is definitely chemistry between Jethro and Nina. This book left me wanting to read more in major way. I cannot wait to continue with these two and their families.
