Dove Glitch is embarrassed about everything above her knees and below her belly button. When she has to fill a delicate, embarrassing prescription the last thing she needs is a sexy-as-hell (and brand spanking new) pharmacist behind the counter.

Johnson Fitzwell’s first day of his dream career also happens to coincide with the exact moment Dove needs her feminine meds filled. His glorious voice is way too loud–as in, he should be counting down the hits with Ryan Seacrest kind of loud. Thanks to Johnson’s handsome face and gorgeous jaw line, Dove dives headlong into her waking nightmare and asks for a vagina-scented cream.

How could she not fall for him? Dove's only active goal now is to get Johnson to kiss her right on the lips. Either set. However, his horrible girlfriend is one of many obstacles preventing her from making that fantasy a reality. When Dove defends Johnson in the most unhygienic, unconventionally gross way in the middle of a crowded restaurant, their tender, slightly tantric relationship is off to a galloping, farting start.

Each print copy of this book will be dipped in holy water by my mom, and glared at by my father as he purses his lips. Neither will help. So, drop your pants and turn to the left and cough. I hope you're not allergic to latex, because it’s time to fill your prescription. Anally.

Oh God. We’re talking about me being naked, in the shower with cooter cream. Please world, end. Kill me.
“I know it’s not soap. I just… if it’s scented… I can’t do scented. Flowers and stuff like that. Fruit-flavored soaps make… things… burnish.” She could tell from the peeks at his face Mr. Fitzwell had never stepped foot in bath and lotion store, wanting to try the array of fun fragrances. Nor had he purchased Peppermint Candy shower gel, foamed up his nether regions, and felt like he had dipped them in lava. Dove crossed and uncrossed her legs at the memory.
Mr. Fitzwell seemed concerned. “Okay, just a heads-up. It’s definitely not good to put any fruits or plant life near your genitals.” He made a V with his hands and formed his own pretend vagina in front of his pants.
Dove covered her eyes and tried to defend herself because now she could hear the sickly older woman beating her supporters with a purse.
Dove’s mumbling got louder with her embarrassment. “I don’t put weird things down… there. Just make sure that the cream’s vagina-scented. Just plain. For vaginas.” She kept her eyes on the counter.

There are a lot of eyes in Debra Anastasia’s house in Maryland. First, her own creepy peepers are there, staring at her computer screen. She’s made two more sets of eyes with her body, and the kids they belong to are amazing. The poor husband is still looking at her after 17 years of marriage. At least he likes to laugh. Then the freaking dogs are looking at her—six eyeballs altogether, though the old dog is blind. And the cat watches her too, mostly while knocking stuff off the counter and doing that internal kitty laugh when Deb can’t catch the items fast enough.
Debra has a smattering of books in a few genres. There are two in the Seraphim Series and three in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series with a prequel, Poughkeepsie Begins in the near future. Fire Down Below is the first in the comedic Gynzaule Series. The second, Fire in the Hole, will be published in late 2015. The Revenger, a dark paranormal romance will debut this summer. And last, a novella called Late Night with Andres is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. (So go get it right now, please!) You can find her at DebraAnastasia.com and on Twitter @Debra_Anastasia. But be prepared...

1. What did I just read?
2. OMG I couldn't stop laughing!
3. If there's anyone with lady-balls big enough to publish this, that's Debra!

This book is a joke, ridiculous and you will laugh your soul out. It's full of cliches and you won't know whether to cringe or laugh.

Sometimes, I did both.

Dove had some facepalm-worthy moments, while Johnson was stinkin' cute - yes, his name made me snort.

But I was surprised by one of the side characters - there's an array of them, they're all crazy and funny - who was disgusting but then kinda made my heart break.

Once you'll read the book, you'll understand.

If you want something to take your mind off problems, take you out of reality, in general - and make you laugh/cringe/chuckle, this is the book for you. I am actually curious about what's next.

#TeamDuke. 4 stars.

*crickets* What....the....hell was that? I feel like I need to take a 2 hour shower. The best way to describe this book, Slapstick. Its like 3-Stooges meets, well, someone pretty gross. Lots of fart and dick jokes. If those offend you, do NOT read this book. I will admit, I had to read this book in small doses. While I did actually laugh out loud, the humor was a bit much for one full on sitting. Dove, the heroin in this book seems pretty quiet for the most part. Very awkward, that's for sure. Her and her crazy cat, Steve are just some of the fun you'll have in this crazy whirlwind of disastrous events. Her 2 best friends, Shannon and Flower, each weird in their own ways as well. Duke, her downstairs neighbor, is just outright disgusting in a weirdly awesome way. Then you have the other neighbors, the "Anastasia's". Leave it to Debra to put that in this book and make herself a porn writing vixen. Dove meets Johnson Fitzmore when she goes to pick up her prescription. The events that happen afterwards are just downright silly and absurd. Poor Johnson gets caught in many of this groups antics and pays the price for it. I think he is sweet with his weird obsession with numbers and " the twitter". But that cliffy... dang it! I don't want to be mad at Johnson. He seems so sweet and oblivious. Please fix the situation a.s.a.p Debra! I give this a 4 stars for being crazy, original, and full of "out there" shenanigans.

Fire Down Below (Gynazule #1)Fire Down Below by Debra Anastasia
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So, I didn't really know anything specific about this going into it. Most of the comments that I read about it were basically WTF without actual details. Now, that I've read it, I'd say most readers are probably just stunned speechless by the time they finish. Fire Down Below is basically every gross body function and embarrassing situation known to man all gathered into one book. I had to take breaks while reading. Sometimes I felt gaggy, but mostly I was laughing so hard my stomach muscles needed a break.

First off, the entire cast are lovable, bumbling idiots. They're so vulgar and some are so shockingly shameless. It's sort of like a Dickhouse, Broken Lizard, Nation Lampoon mashup geared toward women.
"Sausage and boobs, fantastic. Go at it, ladies. I've got enough grease on my hands and chest to lube us all up."

The story centers around Dove Glitch and her friends. Most of the cast live in her apartment building. Every person in this book is a social reject. They can't take a step without tripping, or an anvil falling from the sky, or shit (as in feces) coming into the picture. Seriously, human body functions and issues are always popping up, as well as weird neighbors and random naked body parts.
"Hey, girl, I have a massive zit I need you to pop."
"Your dick's out again."
"It was air drying. You need to let a dick breathe. Underwear is jail."

Ha. Ha. Just reading that quote made me start chuckling again. Duke is off the chain. <3 Prepare yourself. Gotta say, the big goof is awesome and my favorite character.
So, mostly it's teenage boy humor scene after scene, farts and giggles, but there is a bit of the sexy too. ;)
"Great. I gave you unwanted anal. That's what I get for reading all those sexual expertise books."

Actually, I didn't realize until a ways into the book that there is a deeper storyline sneaking it's way in. Matters of the heart do make an appearance. I'm not going to discuss it though so it can creep on you also.

I had the most fun reading this, and I definitely plan to read the next installment.

PS. I love the Harry Potter references. :D

4+ letting it all hang out stars

Meet Till & Eliza in Aly Martinez’s newest fighter series!

fighting teaser #3.jpg

“Hi.” I stood up off the bed as he started climbing through the window.
His eyes went wide when he saw me, causing him to momentarily lose his balance on the windowsill and go crashing to the floor. “God. Damn,” he cursed as he rose to his feet while taking in my new wardrobe. “You… I…um…” His hand went to his lip.
He was rooted in place only a few steps away, but his eyes traveled over every inch of my body and back again.
Till was speechless. I had never felt so empowered in my life.
“Are you okay?” I feigned concern as I slowly approached.
“Not even close,” he told my breasts, making me giggle.
After sliding a hand under the edge of his T-shirt, I raked a fingernail over each of his abs before dipping it into the waistband of his jeans.
“I’m sore today,” I announced, closing the distance between us. My breasts were pressed against him, but he still hadn’t even attempted to touch me yet. I had plans to remedy that. I smirked then stood up on my tiptoes, kissing the base of his neck. “Make me sore for tomorrow too.” At the last second, I darted my tongue out to the hollow dip at the base of his neck. It was meant to tease him, but as the taste of his skin hit my tongue, I was flooded with memories of taking more of him in my mouth. The moan escaped before I’d even felt it coming.
A loud rumble shook his chest, but that was the only warning I received. Suddenly, I was off my feet and sailing through the air. Just as I landed on the bed, Till crashed on top of me. His mouth roughly landed on mine.
“Tell me we can’t do this again,” he demanded as his hands found my breasts.
“We’re definitely doing this again.” I arched into him.
“It’s gonna get so messy, Eliza. Please.” He groaned as I reached into the front of his jeans.
“I’m okay with messy,” I breathed, guiding his hand from my breast and into my panties.
“Fuuuuuck” he cursed when he discovered just how thorough I’d been with the razor earlier. His finger pressed inside me as his body traveled down the bed and settled between my legs, stripping my panties off during his descent.
He added another finger in a less than gentle but overwhelmingly intoxicating, rhythm.
“Tell me to stop, Eliza. We can’t do this again.” He grazed his teeth on the inside of my thigh.
“We’re already doing it.”
“Tell me to stop.”
“No.”
“It’s going to ruin us.”
“If you don’t stop talking, you’re going to ruin this.”
“I’m serious.” He kissed the inside of my other thigh, his fingers never faltering in their steady pace.
“So am I. Stop trying to talk yourself out of this while your fingers are buried inside me.” I threaded a hand into his hair and gave it a gentle tug.
“Goddammit. Tell me to stop!” he demanded one last time, but his fingers sped before twisting in the most delicious way.
I decided to give him what he wanted, but only because I knew he wouldn’t follow through.
“Stop.” I rolled my hips forcing him even deeper.
“Well, it’s too fucking late now.”
I would have laughed, but his mouth sealed over my clit and stole my breath, words, thoughts, and orgasm. My body shook as he pushed me higher even while I was falling. It shouldn’t have worked like that, but whatever voodoo magic Till Page was working with that night was all right with me. He didn’t stop swirling his tongue until I used his hair to pry his mouth away.
“Too much!” I cried.
He looked up with a wickedly proud grin. His hand disappeared, and seconds later, his cock replaced it.

fighting silence.jpg
Sound is an abstract concept for most people. We spend our lives blocking out the static in order to focus on what we believe is important. But what if, when the clarity fades into silence, it's the obscure background noise that you would give anything to hold on to?
I've always been a fighter. With parents who barely managed to stay out of jail and two little brothers who narrowly avoided foster care, I became skilled at dodging the punches life threw at me. Growing up, I didn’t have anything I could call my own, but from the moment I met Eliza Reynolds, she was always mine.  I became utterly addicted to her and the escape from reality we provided each other. Throughout the years, she had boyfriends and I had girlfriends, but there wasn't a single night that I didn’t hear her voice.
You see, meeting the love of my life at age thirteen was never part of my plan. However, neither was gradually going deaf at the age of twenty-one.
They both happened anyway.
Now, I'm on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting for my career.
Fighting the impending silence.
Fighting for her.
Every night, just before falling asleep, she sighs as a final conscious breath leaves her.
I think that's the sound I'll miss the most.

This is the first book I have ever read by Aly and I must say, she's definitely made a fan out of me.

This book, these characters, this story, her writing...its just...everything. The feels...oh lots and lots of feels. It is super angsty and Till Page is beautifully tragic.

Two kids growing up together in their "apartment", which was in a condemned building. They spent their nights and weekend there together, away from their crappy families. Outside of those walls though, was a different story.

Tills mom is an epic beeyotch. I'm so glad she ran off, those boys were so much better without her. Till worked his butt off for them. He was an honorable, sweet character. I can't say enough good things about him, even when he was being a dumbass :p

Another thing I REALLY liked was, he didn't come outright as a good fighter, he worked for it, and everything he had. Slade, the owner, was such an awesome role model for Till and his brothers. Seeing their father was in prison (also another turn of events I can't wait to read about)

I also mentioned in my updates that the h, Eliza, was a big crier. Happy, sad, or angry, didn't matter. In no way did I find that to weaken her character. If anything it made her stronger. I think if I went through her struggles in life, I may have been the exact same way. She was such a well written character. Finally, a strong h that you can relate to. She too was a fighter, perhaps not physically, but she carried those boys when they didn't want to continue.

I'm so, so, so excited for the youngest brother Quarry's book. He was such a little bugger and I just love him, but alas, he will be the last book (she's saving the best for last). Book 2 will be Flint, and with the ending he had, I cannot WAIT for him to get his HEA. I'm excited to see where that goes.

I give this 5 Fighting Stars

Reviews

1. Ms. Darhower has become a favorite of mine. I mean really, have you met Naz and Corrado? No? What are you waiting for?
2. This is a modern-day Romeo and Juliet-like story, that takes place in New York. Several families run different grounds, but only two of those families are the most powerful.
3. The prologue was a big boom, so I knew it would be a good one.

I loved our heroine, Genna. She's a rebel, that one. She's the Ice Princess, a Galante that some fear, while others despise.

I also loved Matty, since he's not like his family, he wants nothing to do with the business. He's also a Barsanti that Genna should hate. Except, she doesn't.

"I didn't think you could be more beautiful," he said, "but then you went and screamed my name."
Hoo boy, that Matty! Sure knows how to sweet talk a girl, heh.

Ah, I also liked Dante, Genna's brother.

Annnnd I need book two! 'Cause that ending, really? Oh, the many things that could happen! It will keep you on your toes, make you chuckle or fan yourself. Ms. Darhower seems to have an MO 'cause I went through all of the above mentioned while reading her other books.

5 stars for my Barsanti love.

***I was lucky enough to have received a copy in exchange of honest review. Thank you***

By Any Other Name (Forbidden, #1)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nobody does organized crime like J.M. Darhower. Good lord! Amazing story. I'm so emotionally wrung out now.

So obviously I loved it. BAON is about two kids from opposing crime families. They weren't always this way. Once they were very close. Both family's histories are super intertwined. Many things have happened that can't be taken back. Each act builds causing a snowball effect, more pain, more drama, more death and so on.

One thing that I want to point out for those that loved the Forever/Sempre series is Gavin (from Sempre:Redemption, the one that overran the construction site and watched over Haven for Corrado) is in this series. The DeMarco family of Chicago is mentioned by name and references are made to Haven and Corrado. Gavin Amaro is in one of the five families in New York. I expect we will see more of him in future books of this series. He is one of the first to know of the affair going on between Matty and Genna.
"Look, Matty, I'll tell you what someone told me once, a few years ago, when I got curious about a girl...don't plant your seeds in someone else's garden or you're liable to get buried sex-feet under with fertilizer."

Genna is different than any female lead I can remember Darhower doing before. She is a wild child. She isn't virginal and sweet sitting at home while the boys play. She isn't involved in the family business either. So while they're all busy, she's off getting drunk, screwing around and stealing cars.

Matty has never been a part of the family business. He was shipped off as a boy. Now after getting a college degree he has returned home to take care of his dying mother. He's a good, sweet guy.

Needless to say, these two have no idea who the other is when they meet. Both have been raised to stay clear of anyone with the other's surname, but without knowing this about each other, they immediately hit it off. While everyone around them is preparing for war, they're beginning to fall for one another.
He'd bought her an abundance of drinks and followed it up with even more orgasms. The boy was a giver, for sure.

Be prepared for lots of emotions. There are deaths and heart moments. It's a very easy story to get caught up in. It's heavy in sibling love, forbidden romance and decisions that change everything.

Series Review Carved Hearts by L.G. Pace III & Michelle Pace

Title: Good Wood
Author: L.G. Pace III & Michelle Pace
Series: Carved Hearts
Release Date: July 19th 2014

Synopsis

"It’s the sign of a true artisan when he can create beauty from what others consider trash. It takes heart to use a twisted bit of scrap and make something from it as if it were good wood.”

Somehow Joe survived the unlivable, and now he's just going through the motions. An endless string of one night stands does little to dull the ache from all he's lost. Even though he distracts himself daily with back-breaking work, his violent rage still simmers just under the surface.

Then along comes Molly, the feisty baby sister of his two best friends. Joe hasn’t seen her in years, and he's unprepared for his reaction to her when she falls out of the food truck and into his arms. Molly is still as mouthy as ever, and now she's as delicious as the food she's serving up. It's totally against "The Bro Code", but he just can't seem to keep his hands off of her.

Molly has come back home to Austin to mend fences and feed a whole new crowd. Dealing with Joe's demons doesn't figure into her business model. Something is very different about him and she craves the ‘Old Joe’ she used to have a crush on.

Still, the broody carpenter's swagger is damn near irresistible. And all work and no play makes Molly a cranky girl.

Review

I have to admit, I expected a light, fun romance but - while I did laugh or snort at some parts - it's not exactly that. Because it deals with two broken people, finding their way back from the pain that took over their lives.

While Molly and Joe had known each other, they drifted apart and didn't know anything about one another for years. Molly got married, Joe got married. But none of them expected their marriages to end the way they did. I'm not saying more about it, you're gonna have to read the book to see for yourself.

I am going to say this, though: I loved Molly. She went through some nasty things but she overcame them. I also loved Joe and his man-whore ways.

This book took me by surprise, a very pleasant one because it kept me interested and curious to learn more. While there may have been some detailed parts - I'm not much for details, but that's me - it was still a good book, one I'd recommend gladly.

I'm also going to dive into the second one! 4 - 4 1/2 stars.

Series: Carved Hearts
Release Date: October 27th 2014

Synopsis

"A good chef can throw seemingly random ingredients into a pot and create something delicious. On rare occasions, fate does the same thing with hearts. With the right combination of elements at just the right time, a couple can fall head over heels in love. That being said, blending two lives can get messier than any kitchen and also a hell of a lot harder to clean up."

Molly's food truck took Austin by storm, and she's got more prospects than she knows what to do with. Her crazy ex is out of the picture, and she's moved in with her gorgeous boyfriend, Joe. She and Joe rarely see one another, and when they do, their time is squandered arguing. Molly's anxious to break this cycle because the tension between them is literally making her sick.

After years alone and shattered, Molly has reawakened a part of Joe that he was sure couldn't be revived. He's terrified of losing her, but their combined baggage makes every step forward seem littered with landmines. Molly's more than worth the fight, but she shouldn't be the one he's constantly battling. A master carpenter by trade, Joe has restored countless treasures which seemed beyond repair. Review

Joe *sigh*

As soon as I finished reading book one, I dived into book two. I don't regret it. I loved it more than the previous one. We got to see the evolution of these characters; as individuals and as a couple. And it's not easy, because they still have things to overcome. Things to let go of.

But once that happens, things start working out for them.

There's a scene where *tiny spoiler* Joe got pissed and, after holding everything inside, he snapped and defended Molly and hoo-boy! Absolute swoon-worthy, Mr. Joe Jensen. Absolute. Swoon. Worthy.

Molly & Joe are fast-becoming a fave couple of mine and I'll be rereading these books, that's for sure. I'm going to dive into book 3 soon. I just... It's going to be good-bye and well, I don't want to say good-bye to them.

The only thing keeping me from giving this book 5 stars - 4 stars, unfortunately - is the fact that there are more typos and wrong words than there were in book one. It kinda took away from the storyline, having to replace the word I read with the one that was supposed to be there, but I still loved it and will reread.

P.S. Certain parts with Joe made me tear up. I just love that man.

Title: Heartwood
Author: L.G. Pace III & Michelle Pace
Series: Carved Hearts
Release Date: February 7th 2015

Synopsis

"When we were kids, my cousins planned for their weddings like they were coronations. Sleepovers revolved around notebooks stuffed with clippings from bridal magazines and elaborate plans scrawled in purple ink. Horse drawn carriages, twenty tiered cakes, groomsmen in tails, and scads of bridesmaids, none of whom were nearly as pretty as the bride. Me? I'd just yawn and wander off to the backyard and play fetch with their dog. I never cared about any of that crap, at least not until I met Joe."

With her wedding rapidly approaching, Molly's days consist of herding Joe off to tux fittings and diaper changings times two. She misses life on the food truck, but she isn't quite ready to leave the twins. Planning for every detail to be as perfect as her groom, she hopes her instincts are wrong that it's all too good to be true.

Knowing Molly like he does, Joe can plainly see that his girl needs to decompress. She's as stubborn as always, and talking her into a honeymoon without the babies proves easier said than done. Molly's on edge about every little thing, from the nosey next door neighbor to cars speeding down their quiet street. While Joe revels in their otherwise blissful existence, he worries that Molly's paranoia may be a symptom of something bigger.

Come back to Austin one last time for the wedding of Molly Elizabeth Hildebrandt and Joseph Samuel Jensen. Raise a glass in celebration alongside their family and closest friends. Wave goodbye as they ride off into the sunset toward a dark fork in the road that could destroy their happily ever after. Will they finally get their fairytale ending? Find out in Heartwood, the explosive conclusion to the Carved Hearts series.

Review

Five stars. FIVE stars. I know I've mentioned the typos and whatnot in my review for the previous book but this was SO GOOD, I just didn't give a hoot, to be honest.

I have quickly fallen for both of these characters and saw their growth, their evolution into better, from broken to healed. God, how much I love Joe and in this part... *sigh* Ovaries went ka-boom, really. I mean, really.

It was a perfect blend of funny and darn-there-goes-my-manicure. If you've read the previous books, you know what happens, and what's bound to happen in this. Up to a point. 'Cause what went down... I was NOT expecting that. But once again, Mr. and Mrs. Pace did it well, because I could feel everything these characters were feeling. I mean I got all teary-eyed at certain parts, and swooned over Joe. Yes, I love him. He's become a fave new BBF. Can you seriously blame me? I also have a major girl-crush on Molly. She's awesome.

I didn't read this in one sitting or even two. Why? It was good-bye and I hate good-byes. I suck at them. And after you fall in love with a book, a series, with countless characters, it's like telling your best friend good-bye.

Joe, I'll always love you. You and that sexy scar of yours.

Molly, you rock. Hats off to you, milady!

Along with READ THESE BOOKS, I'll also leave you with a tiny Joe-wisdom.

"We'd been through our separate hells and our reward was each other. We'd paid our dues. Now it was time to celebrate."

*sniff sniff* I'll miss them.
