Synopsis
The Pulse, Book 1 in the Pulse Trilogy
Book One in the heart-pounding Pulse Trilogy—a gripping erotic romance set in post-apocalyptic New York City one year after an electromagnetic pulse destroys America’s power grid.
“Intense, exciting, and sizzlingly sexy—a perfect post-apocalyptic romance!”  –Heather Thurmeier, bestselling author of Escape to My Arms and Stuck on You
Emily Rosen lives in a military camp at Grand Central Station, where women sell their bodies to soldiers for extra rations. When she discovers a dark secret—that America is rebuilding outside of New York City, and everything the city’s refugees have been told is a lie—she escapes, the soldiers hot on her heels…
But Christopher Mason, a convict who broke out of prison after the Pulse, finds Emily first. Although he’s survived this long on the streets by looking out only for himself, Emily is beautiful, alluring, and impossible to leave behind.
Now Emily must convince this intimidating, magnetic stranger to be her guide as they journey out of New York and into the unknown. She’ll barter with her body, but sex with Mason can never be currency—it’s pure passion, and everything she desires. Despite the crumbling world around them, can Emily and Mason discover true love blooming in the darkest of places?

Review
The Pulse would be categorized as post-apocalyptic dystopian.  It seems to take in present time.  The characters believe, and the reader from the information available to us, that a high-altitude electromagnetic pulse device has knocked out all everything in the United States, including modern vehicles, radios, electricity, etc.  Although, so far in the series, the characters have not made it out of New York state, so we really have no idea what condition the rest of the country and world are in.

Marshall law is in effect, which, in some situations, gives full power to the wrong leaders.  The power is abused.  The ones in charge have all the power and prey on the weaker, especially the single women who have to prostitute in order to eat and survive.

Mason is great at living on his own and making his own way.  He knows if he goes to live with the group he will be executed without question if they find out who he is.  There is a shoot on sight order in effect for all convicts.  Also, he naturally prefers to be a loner.

Emily was a nurse before the pulse.  She tried living on her own, but couldn't make it.  She gets caught by the ones in charge and taken to the New York FEMA center headed by a cruel leader.  Being a single woman, she is taken to the Tracks, a place where single women are used as whores by the soldiers.  Emily finds something being kept secret that changes everything so she makes a run for it.

Mason and Emily cross paths and try to make a go of it together.  She's a nurse so she has a very in demand service during a time when medical aide is almost nonexistent.  He is a big, able, self-sufficient man with a good moral compass which is a must for a woman to make it in the current world.

I read most of this book in one setting.  I like how the author tried to tell it realistically.  The extents they must go, the filth, what is available for food, etc.  I also like how the story was still able to be sexy despite all of the above mentioned.  I'm looking forward to the other books in the series.

She’s not entirely sure if she’ll be safe with the mysterious stranger, who still mourns his wife’s untimely death. Description
When everything you avoid, turns out to be exactly what you need.
Easy and predictable, just the way he likes it, Blake Daniels flies through life the way he burns through women: on his terms, no regrets.
With his fighting career in full swing, he's on the threshold of title contention. But when his training is compromised by injury, the stakes grow impossibly higher. The rage that fuels his punches also chips away at his focus, and he risks losing everything he cares about.
He won’t let that happen. Not again.
Layla’s through with men. After a marriage that never should’ve happened, she hopes to reclaim the pieces of the woman she lost years ago.
Emotional abuse has left her insecure and terrified. A master at faking what she’s not feeling, she masks her self-doubt in false confidence.
She’ll never let another man hurt her. Not again.
Chased by shadows of the past, Blake and Layla know what they don’t want, but their hearts have a different plan. As a web of lies and betrayal threatens to destroy them, they’re forced to make a choice.
Is love enough to heal even the deepest wounds?
Or will they be left Fighting to Forgive?

Review
Fighting to Forgive is book 2 in a series.  The series centers around a group of professional MMA fighters.  This book is the story of Blake "The Snake" Daniels.  He had a very big role in book 1 so we go into this book knowing a lot about him.  He is a 6'2" ex-Marine Jiu-Jitsu black belt and received his nickname because of his submissions.

Blake had a troubled childhood.  His father, a General in the Marines, was mentally abusive to him, his mother and his brother.  Blake chose to draw his father's wrath to protect the other members of his family until being sent away to military school.  After finally getting out from under his father, he is making his own way in the world of professional fighting and is known as one of the biggest playboys ever, usually taking home 2 or 3 girls together.  He is all about the jokes, never being serious except in the ring.  He's the group's comedian and sex god, often combining for a lewd sense of humor and behavior.  About the only rule he follows outside of the ring is never sleep with a woman who has kids.

"Well, fuck me."  Literally.  "What's a girl like you doing in a dirty mind like mine?"

When she was 16, Layla woke up after a party beside a guy realizing she had lost her virginity and later finding out she was pregnant.  They married, and he has made her life hell for years.  Her own daughter is now 16, and Layla is finally got the nerve up to leave her husband and make a better life for her and her daughter.  She gets a job working as an assistant to the guy in charge at a UFL Training Center.

That's the backdrop.  Then of course, the shit hits the fan.

Si vis pacem, para bellum.
If you want peace, prepare for war.

I love this series.  Everyone who knows me knows I love my fighters.  The author seems to really know the subject matter so of course that makes the storyline more appealing and flow more smoothly.  Also, the plots are pretty unique.  A lot of the books I read are interesting, but the story seems recycled.  So far, I have been surprised when certain things happened; I didn't already have it all figured out.  I really liked both of the books currently out in the series, but this one was my favorite.  I love Blake.  What a man he turned out to be!  Swoon.

"I want them.  They're mine."

This is the third (and final) installment in Jack & Cassie's story!
“It’s one hell of a sledgehammer to the chest when your baseball career comes to an end. It’s like you finally realize that baseball never loved you back. All the sleepless nights, the hours spent at the gym trying to stay fit, the conditioning, the training, the mental preparation, the holiday’s missed, the birthday’s passed, the memories you didn’t get to make with your family…all for what? It’s not like baseball lost any sleep over you. She didn’t stay awake for nights on end trying to figure out how to make you a better player. She didn’t care. Baseball’s a business. A sport. A game. And as much as my entire life has been wrapped up in it, it’s time to let it go.”
- Jack Carter
The Game Series:
The Perfect Game- Book One
The Game Changer- Book Two
The Sweetest Game - Book Three

Review
The Sweetest Game was my favorite of the series.  I loved finding out how everything played out of Jack & Cassie (and the supporting characters).
The author obviously knows soooo much about Major League Baseball.  I had absolutely no idea all that was involved in making it and maintaining a position.  I never knew what a difficult life it is.  All I ever knew was the glamour.

"Say it, Cassie.  Tell me you know this body was made to fit with mine.  And only mine.  No rookie can take my place.  No one else can have this position.  You're my fucking wife and no one else's.  Ever.  I worship you.  I will always worship you."

Also the jars of quarters continuing on in this book were so über romantic.  So unique and sweet how it was a lifelong tradition.

"I need to be inside you.  You're my home.  I need to be home right now."

Jack matured more in this book also.  Even though we super loved Jack F'n Carter always, it was wonderful to see the man that he eventually became.  I'm going to miss him for sure!  And I'm going to miss all of his cute little saying and goings on.

My hands down favorite part was the Gran and Gramps scenes.  Everyone needs that kind of wisdom in their lives.  It's amazing seeing love that strong and long-lasting.

I can see this being Jack and Cassie's future also.

Lastly, per my usual, I have to give shout out and bonus points to any mention of Harry Potter.

"Jack. Oh God, Jack. Don't stop. Don't ever stop. You're like Harry Potter, oh God!"
"Did you just call me Harry Potter?"
"I just meant that you were magical. Your tongue is fucking magic. Get down there and perform a spell."

"I'm Harry Potter, remember?  I'm fucking magic!"

I'm way hotter than Harry fucking Potter.

Description
Book two of Lovers and Friends
Tyler Coil doesn't do men. But it's harder to remember that each time he visits his best friend, gorgeous Landon Burke. As a political reporter, Ty is good at reading people, and he can tell the lust is mutual. But giving in to it could mean alienating his ultra-conservative family.
Landon never desired a man badly enough to explore that side of his sexuality—until he met Ty. He's waited four long years for a sign that Ty wants him too, and he can't deny his needs much longer. So when a career opportunity arises out-of-state, Landon wonders if maybe it's time to move on.
Then Ty crashes at Landon's while working on a story—and a searing kiss ignites a night of mind-blowing sex that's better than their most erotic fantasies. Forced to face his feelings, Ty must decide if love is worth the risk after all—before he loses Landon forever.

Review
(Background) Book 1 of this series was M/F/M.  Landon was a supporting character in book 1.  In it we learned that he had just broken up with his girlfriend.
Book 2 picks up not long after book 1 ends.  It's is M/M.
Landon is 6'6", quiet, intelligent, looks kinda Viking-ish, grew up with 2 overprotective sisters and is now a cancer research scientist.
Ty is 6'2", dark, rough, grew up harsh on a cattle farm with a very old fashioned family and is now a reporter.
They met in college and have remained best friends since.  Both live in Texas but in different cities.  Ty's job requires him to travel a lot so he sometimes stays with Landon when work brings him there.

We quickly learn that both Ty and Landon have felt bisexual for years while neither have acted on any of their same sex desires.  But their mutual attraction is building to the point that it can no longer be ignored.

He kissed as if he couldn't get enough of him, as if he were trying to get enough to last a lifetime.

After drinking a few beers, they give in to the pull between them and have their first M/M sexual experience with each other through the night and morning.  Landon is all for a relationship.  Ty knows if he chooses a life with Landon, he will loose his family and possibly wreck his public career so he leaves with intentions to stay away completely.  He is certain that going back to friendship will never be enough.

"One last time," Landon murmured.  "One last time. Slow and easy."  His voice was hypnotic, and Ty couldn't have stopped him now if his life depended on it.  "But first just stand there. Don't move. Don't touch me."

This book goes through multiple point of views about gay relationships, the ones thinking they will go to hell, the ones that disown, the ones okay with it as long as it isn't around them, the ones instantly accepting, the ones that just have to get used to the idea and the ones thinking love is love.

Family.  He'd begun revising his notion of what that word meant.  Who made up a family and what was their place in his life?  He'd been grasping at childhood ideals and trying to work them into a world that would no longer accommodate them.  Close-knit, biologically related, loving each other no matter what.  Obviously, he'd been wrong about the biological part.  Sharing DNA didn't guarantee that closeness.

The boys are back in town…
Ten years ago, Kaelin Daume spent a steamy summer home from college secretly hanging out with town bad boy Tyler Wirth and his best friend Nick Kernsted. The shocking scene of sex and bondage has haunted her boring, oh-so-vanilla life ever since.
The fallout from that night tore Tyler’s life apart. He left Mapleglen, disowned and disgraced, to build a successful advertising career and a unique relationship with Nick. Nothing could bring him back except his sister’s wedding, and he plans to hightail it back to Chicago as soon as it’s over. At least one good thing hasn’t changed: Kaelin is as sweet as ever. Except she doesn’t seem too thrilled to hear it.
As tensions run high, Kaelin can’t resist the temptation to commit one crazy act of rebellion. Once the web of secrets, sins and lies starts to unravel, though, their lives will never be the same…
Warning: This book contains a nice girl who gets her naughty on with two hot men. M/M/F and M/M scenes may cause an increase in body temperature, pulse rate and respiration. Read with caution! For adult use only.

Review
Yummy M/M and M/M/F Yay!
Ok, here's the down low.  Tyler is a hot bad boy, always in trouble.  His family is super rich and super into appearances.  Tyler and Nick are best friends.  Nick will follow Tyler into anything.  They ended up getting into a wild predicament one night.  The night's happenings are exposed.  Afterwards, Tyler becomes an outcast and is happy to play that roll.  He and Nick leave town, start a company and become friends with benefits.

"Wanna fuck you," Tyler whispered against Nick's mouth as he undid Nick's jeans.

Tyler is the top, and Nick is in love with Tyler and is still willing to follow him anywhere.

Tyler stopped short, turned to Nick and stared him down, then shot a glance back into the other room.  "Then don't," he growled at him.  "Just fucking don't love me.  I'm an asshole."

They come back into town for Tyler's sister's wedding.
Kaelin is seen by everyone in town as the good girl.  She never has any fun.  She's Ms. Dependable, always helps everyone and ends up helping with the wedding.  There were always feelings between her and the guys especially Tyler.
She decides to let herself free for once and pursue what she has always wanted.

What exactly was a reputation anyway?

Can there be a happy ending for everyone?

Excerpt

Twenty minutes late and running out of patience I reached in quickly undid her belt and picked her up, ignoring her squeal of surprise I pulled her purposefully flush against me one hand full of lush ass the other on her hip.

Lowering my head to her neck I took a deep breath in, catching the soft vanilla scent of her blonde hair taking as much as I could get I gently bit her earlobe then ran my lips over the same spot.

“Don’t push me, Princess. I’m clear out of give a fucks and my dick's so hard it could hammer nails. Move that sweet ass before I bend it over and fuck it into oblivion” I growled in her ear driving the point home with a quick swat to her ass.

Making sure her feet were on the ground I let go and stalked for the house adjusting my now very tight in the crotch jeans. I also didn’t miss the soft moan from Teeny before she cleared her throat and mumbled something about assholes and penis trucks then stomped up the sidewalk.

Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

5 Banging Stars

Two questions I asked myself while reading Wallbanger by Alice Clayton:
1.) Why in the tar nation did I wait so long to read this?
2.) Where can I find a Simon "Wallbanger"  Parker? Seriously!!

Holy fuckin' marmalade!!! This book had me laughing & giggling until my sides hurt. I once again bang my head against any hard surface I come across and chide myself for not reading this a lot sooner.

Caroline

She is a brilliant Interior Designer who has great, amazing and hilarious friends, Mimi & Sophia. A hilarious as sin cat, Clive. An awesome boss, Jillian who owns Jillians Designs. A brand spanking new KitchenAid Mixer,

Running my hands over it, splaying my fingers to feel the smooth lines, I delighted in the cold metal against my skin, I sighed gently and actually hugged it.

"Do you two want to be alone?" Sophia asked.

"No, it's okay. I want you to be here to witness our love. Besides, this is the only mechanical instrument that will likely bring me any pleasure in the near future."

a missing big O (and ladies...we are not talking about Oprah) 'Tis a sad, sad day when a girl doesn't even know her  own orgasm. and a fantastic apartment with one annoying, wallbanging, sex-enthusiast neighbor.

Caroline and her friends nickname for him is "Wallbanger", which suits him since he is constantly banging his bed against the wall, keeping her up at night. The first night this happened, she nicknamed the girl he was with "Spanx" due to some ummm spanking going on that she could hear. The second night, he was with a different girl whom she nicknamed "Purina" because <insert laughter> the girl likes to....meow. Which had Clive going bonkers trying to get through the wall to be with the meower on the other side. The third girl was given "Giggler" due to her constant giggling during the sexy time.

Simon
*I whisper silenty "Drop the towel. Drop the mutha fuckin' towel!!" as my Lower Crystal pants loudly*

He is a handsome son-of-a-gun successful Freelance Photographer who travels quite a bit for work. He keeps our sweet, loving and funny Caroline up at night with the constant thump "Oh Yes!" thump thump "Oh Simon...yes...yes...yes" action against her wall with his "harem". One night he is comfronted by his neighbor who was wearing nothing but a pink nightie in which he nicknamed her "Pink Nightie Girl" and told his friends about her.

One night while at a party they bump into each other and the exchange was priceless.

The first thing I saw was blue. Blue sweater, blue eyes. Blue. Beautifully blue. Then I saw red as I recognized who belonged to the blue.

"Fucking Wallbanger," I hissed, frozen on the spot.

His grin slid off as well as he played place-the-face for a moment.

"Fucking Pink Nightie Girl," he finally concluded. He grimaced.

Simon & Caroline

By the end of the night of the party, they both agreed on a truce. Simon would make sure that his late night activities would happen not so late and that they would be friends. *While reading and seeing their friendship grow, the movie What's Your Number kept popping up in my head and I was like "Yes! Yes!Yes!" I love Ana Farris but I see Jennifer Lawrence more as Caroline-and no it's not because she is becoming such a huge star, or because she is a Golden Globe winner and an Oscar winner but because her personality fuckin' ROCKS!!!*

I love how Caroline and Simon interact with each other when they meet in the hallways and through their text messages.
You done with work?
Yep, at home waiting for you.
Now that's a nice visual...
Prepare yourself, I'm taking bread out of the oven.
Don't tease me woman...zucchini?
Cranberry orange. Mmmm...
No woman has ever done breakfast bread foreplay the way you do.
Ha! When you coming?
Can't. Drive. Straight.
Can we have one conversation when you're not twelve?
Sorry, I'll be there in 30
Perfect, that will give me time to frost my buns.
Pardon me?
Oh, didn't I tell you? I also made cinnamon rolls.
Be there in 25.
And.....
Just trying to get a visual of you on the beach in Spain…
How's that working out for you?
Pretty spiffy.
Spiffy? Did you just say spiffy?
I typed it actually. You got something against spiffy?

You can feel the sparks fly between them but they don't act on them, which can be frustrating at times buuuttt I'm glad that they didn't act upon them right away. I enjoyed the build up between these two characters and they have become one of my favorite fictional couples but I must say that my favorite character from this story is hands down.....

Clive

I looked down at Clive, whose tail was at full puff. He arched his back and paced back and forth at the foor of the bed.

"Hey, mister. It's cool. We just got a noisy neighbor, that's all," I soothed, stretching my hand out to him. That's when I heard it.

"Meow."

I cocked my head sideways, listening more intently. I studied Clive, who looked back as if to say, "Tweren't me."

"Meow! Oh God. Me-yow!"

The girl next door was meowing........

I tried to get a hold of Clive and calm him down. No luck. He was neutered but he was still a boy, and he wanted what was on the other side of that wall.

*****
I would swear, on a stack of Bibles in a court of actual law, that I heard my cat speak.

"Porrrrreeeeennnnnya," Clive said, and I whirled about..............

"Nooooooooo!" I cried as I saw a look of panic cross Purina's face and a look of pure lust across Clive's as he prepared to woo.......

Clive was strutting. Strutting back and forth in front of her, giving it his all. he turned like he was on a runway, pacing along a line on the floor and glancing at her nonchalantly.

If Clive could wear a blazer, he would have taken it off, draped it casually over his kitty shoulder, and pointed at her.

All I can say is that I hope Clive get's his own story because seriously...how f'n cute and awesome AND hilarious would that be?
