“This is Penny Reid at her finest.” -- L.B. Dunbar, author
Beard With Me, an epic and breathtaking story from New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Penny Reid, is available now!
No one is better at surviving than Scarlet St. Claire and making the best out of circumstances beyond her control is Scarlet’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, she’d be the last person on earth, hermitting like a pro, singing along to her CD Walkman, and dancing like no one is watching.
Scarlet is clever, Scarlet is careful, and Scarlet is smart . . . except when it comes to Billy Winston.
No one is better at fighting than Billy Winston and raging against his circumstances—because nothing is beyond his control—is Billy’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, he’d be the first person on earth to lead others to safety, overcome catastrophe, or die trying.
Billy is fearless, Billy is disciplined, and Billy is honorable . . . except when it comes to Scarlet St. Claire.
‘Beard With Me’ is the origin story of Billy Winston and Scarlet St. Claire (aka Claire McClure) and is just the beginning of their epic love story.

SHANDA'S 4 STAR REVIEW
Billy and Scarlet/Claire have been the most anticipated book in this series. I am glad the Penny Reid chose to do an origin story for them. Not only do you get the feels of first love, but you also get to see the Winston’s as kids.
Beard With Me centers around Billy and Scarlet's first interactions and how their love blossomed. Billy is 16 and Scarlet is 14. In reality, they are both much older. Billy has taken on responsibility of helping raise his siblings after Jethro joins the Wraiths. He is angry and older than he should have to be. Scarlet is completely on her own. As the daughter of the Wraiths President, she has known nothing but abuse. Scarlet has chosen to be homeless rather than live in the club. Billy is trying his hardest to help Scarlet and keep his head above water. Sadly, he has to make a choice that will change the course of his life and Scarlet's.
I will say, this is dark for a Penny Reid book. Don’t expect a happy story. Yes, there are funny moments, but this is a sad one. I felt a dark cloud throughout the whole story knowing the end was going to hurt.
I really hope that we get more background with Billy and Scarlet's final book. As most readers know they were separated for 20 years after the events in Beard with Me. I still feel like there is a lot of story to tell. I have so many questions and I hope they are answered in Beard Necessities.
