Shiver by Tiffinie Helmer

Book 3 of the Edge series

I just finished this book and can say Ms. Helmer did it again; another hit! It was odd to me since I really didn't like Aiden in Hooked...at all, but from the moment I started Shiver I just loved him. The heartbreak he experienced while in love at a young age, the lack of love at the hands of his own family, and then the awful memory (and guilt) he will forever live with for the rest of his life for his final actions towards his father, almost brought me to tears. As in the other books in this series, I'm amazed at how the author brings every aspect of the story to life. Almost gives you the feel that you're right there and you're experiencing it just as the characters are. I can't recommend this series enough to readers looking for that perfect combination of romantic contemporary/suspense writing.

Madeleine Abducted by M. S. Willis

Madeleine Abducted by M. S. Willis
(most awesome book cover ever, an exact scene from the book)

This story had a real Shakespearean/Game of Thrones feel to it for me, as in The Mad King. Even though the setting was modern times, the descriptions of how they lived and where they lived put me in that mindset.
Joseph Carmichael is the insane and cruel “King” of The Estate.

Aaron Carmichael, Joseph’s son, a lifelong victim of Joseph’s malicious plan of corruption, has been forced into the roll of The Executioner, carrying out murders for The Estate.

Aaron also plans to secretly overthrow his sickly evil father while trying to contain his own dark desires.

Xander Black is Aaron’s best friend since childhood and second in command. His only desire for his life is to help Aaron.

Madeleine Clark is a shy, soft spoken concert cellist. She is Aaron’s one weakness, something he worships from afar. Joseph adds a new twist to his wicked depravity by kidnapping Madeleine and forcing Aaron to make her his sex slave.

This book is a sinful delight full of blood and lust. The way the characters evolved especially Madeleine was magnificent. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the future books of the series.  Actually, I am beyond excited for more!

INCEPTION by Ashley Suzanne

Inception is book 1.5 in the Destined Series. In book one we learned about and fell in love with Skylar. This book takes us back to the beginning. We learn of the life long history and brotherhood between Skylar and Danny.

Even though we didn’t get past the cliffhanger from book one, we got a different perspective of the events leading up to that end. We saw everything from inside of Danny’s head, which was very helpful since he didn’t have much of a voice in the first book. We also get to see how deeply they all love each other.

Reading this caused me to feel sad about what will come of this love triangle situation. I fear they are all going to get hurt, and very deep bonds are going to be stretched or broken.

~Author Interview~

Me:  Danny's character inherited his name from a real person in your life. Was he also given any of the same characteristics or qualities? How did you decide to use his name?

Ashley:  When I first had the idea of the book, I wanted to help my husband deal with the death of his best friend, Danny, who yes was a real person. he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2010. my 3rd son was born just 2 weeks after Dannys death and my husband couldn't name him after Danny, still too soon ... this is my tribute to Danny and I'm gonna give him his HEA one way or another ... Danny had dark and blue eyes, very similar to Danny in the book .. he was such a sweet guy and would do anything for anyone .. everyone loved him, but he was the kid that was always in the background, letting everyone else take the limelight but he was soooo funny .. always doing dumb shit .. BP (that's my husband BTW) misses him everyday .. and Kylee is based off my best friend that died a year ago on the 12th of Leukemia .. Kylee is EXACTLY who Teresa was!

Me:  Your husband is in an MC. How did this affect your writing especially the part about an MC?

Ashley:  It made the research easy lol .. I don't have to rely on information that's mostly bogus or steal ideas from other books ... I know first hand what happens, what rules are in place .. really, it was nice to put something so close to my real life in this book.

Book 2 Awakening is scheduled for release soon. Yay!

My #1 BBF REMY! I got 99 problems but a book boyfriend ain't one. I'm in love constantly, but my fav bbf is REMY!

Remington Tate-Remy, RIP, Riptide. Real Raw Ripped Mine Lion Lick The Incredible Hulk Remy the Blue and Remy the Black.
One name can’t convey it all. He works out 8 or 9 hours a day and still has the stamina to fuck all night. She slapped his ass and it didn't even budge because it's such a rock, like the rest of his body. He has beautiful blue eyes until he flips to black. He's animalistic, scenting and licking. He uses music to speak. The muscles, the eyes, the temper, the beautiful-all aspects of the wonderful man that is Remington Tate.

“When I take you, you’ll be mine,” he says, a soft promise in my ear.

“I want to play you a thousand different songs so you get a clue of what…I feel inside me…”

“Why’d you want to have sex with me? To have a fucking adventure? What was I supposed to be? Your one-night-fucking stand? I’m every woman’s adventure, damn you, and I don’t want to be yours. I want to be your fucking REAL. You get that? If I fuck you, I want you to belong to me. To be mine. I want you to give yourself to me — not Riptide!”

His muscles surround me, hard and strong, clenching and flexing, his cock gut-wrenchingly hard and sexy, rubbing all over my body and smearing his semen on me. I’m so delirious, I want to have this man inside my sex, my mouth, and in my hands, all at once. He suddenly plunges back into my sheath, harder and deeper, his fingers digging into my hips, and I’m still so wet and swollen, I meet his every thrust, desperately moaning his name. “Remington.” This isn’t about foreplay. It’s about claiming and taking, about relieving this throbbing, painful physical ache that is so powerful, it makes my soul hurt. But I’m singing inside now. I can’t even believe the way he smells, the way he feels. More than all my fantasies.

Tonight we’re both naked and deliciously entangled, and my sexy blue-eyed lion now seems content to have petted me for a long while, until I feel groomed down to my bones.

This book is about an underground fighting champion that everyone loves on the outside, but no one knows the depth of the real man on the inside until Brooke enters his life.
Real is the 1st book of the series with 4 more available for pre-order. The next book Mine comes out November 5th!

Club Shadowlands by Cherise Sinclair

Club Shadowlands is a book about a BDSM club. I found it very stimulating compared to many of these type books about sex clubs that seem overwhelming. I think this is a good read for an introduction to the lifestyle.

The female lead stumbles upon a party after hydroplaning her car and being stranded. The male lead is a Dom and master of the house. He is patient with her, leading and helping throughout the book. The scenes and feelings were believable and educational.
I recommend it especially to someone that wants Dom/sub erotica, but doesn’t want to be subjected to a dark storyline.

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

~Mood Music~

First it needs to be established that I love fighters. This fighter theme will probably be a reoccurring thing with my posts.

Walking Disaster is the companion book to Beautiful Disaster. I personally liked Walking Disaster better than Beautiful Disaster. They cover the same time period basically but with insights from the different characters POV. WD is the side of the story from Travis so you find out about his thoughts and emotions and what he was doing when they weren’t together. Also, WD gives an epilogue of their future, which shouldn’t be missed by any Travis Maddox fan.

This book is more of a YA read. It does include some sex, bad language and violence but isn’t a full on “Lust in the Dust Book”. I love the underground fights, reminding me of Fight Club. Then throw in a little Las Vegas and the mob. Oh, and he rides a motorcycle which always leads me to thoughts of Jax Teller, yum. And he’s covered it tattoos! Who doesn’t love a sexy muscled fighter with tats? Travis is a walking one-night-stand with a revolving door until he meets Abby. He’s hot fo’shizzle.

This book has great supporting characters, some of which will have their own books coming out soon!

My original fan pic of Travis.

Watch Over Me by Tara Sivec

I would classify this book as emotional NA. It is the personal story of a teenaged girl named Addison. She shares a very close bond with her mother who dies from cancer. Her father cannot cope after loosing his wife and becomes an alcoholic. At one point, Addison has a failed suicide attempt. Through most of the book, she is in the adult role while her father is in and out of rehab. She meets a special guy who helps her get past some of the heartache. The scenes switch from present to past, and there are some sweet surprises toward the end.

I have not felt the pain of loosing a parent, but I feel that this would be a helpful book for someone who has. Being able to relate to the story would make it more special, and if someone was stuck in a grief faze, I can see how this book could give the push needed to move past it. It’s a beautiful story of love.
