Blog Tour~ Save Me From Me by Erika Ashby

Synopsis:

Dani refuses to lose another parent due to her absence from their life. After pulling herself back together following the death of her father, she moves back to her childhood town to live with her mom. She’s slowly pulled back into the lifestyle she worked so hard to get away from ten years ago. She accepts that this is the life she has always been destined to live. Getting a job at the store down the road and hooking back up with her first love Gage, seems to be the logical way to go…that is until Holden Reynolds shows up in town.

Now that Holden is finally back home from the Navy he plans on following in his father’s footsteps. Still trying to move on from the one woman who had his heart, he busies himself in work and returning to the country boy lifestyle he’s always loved. The best way to get over someone is to get under someone, right? That’s his mindset as he travels town to town with his job perfectly content with being a rambling man…that is until he meets Danielle Brooks.

When Dani isn't leaving and Holden isn't staying will they be able to keep themselves from getting too attached? Or will they be just what each other needs to cut all the strings that have them bound?

“You can’t save me from me, Holden.” –Dani

My Review

4 Dock'n Stars!!!

"Quiet on the set please."

The director takes a look at the script in his hands and without looking up, he yells "Action!" before taking a sip from his Starbucks coffee.

"Dani Girl, it's okay for you to leave the nest. No matter what anyone else says. I know you love that boy of yours, but don't stick around because of him. You will always resent him for it. You will always wonder what could have been. Go make something of yourself. If it works out, great. If not, then use them same wings and fly back home. But don't live your life for anyone else but you."

"Cut." The director says. "That was great. Let's take 10 and move on to the next scene."

The actors on set prepares for the next scene by going over their lines together and taking sips of water out of their Fuji bottles to wet their throats. In the background by the screen writers table you can see Erika Ashby, author to SMFM looking over the script with the writers and director laughing and enjoying every moment.

That's what I pictured in my head while reading Save Me From Me. I pictured...more like saw this story play out in front of my eyes as a movie. SMFM will pull you in once you meet Holden and you will devour him....uh I mean this book like a hot fudge sundae on the hottest day in Texas during a catergory 5 Hurricane. Now, some might not care for how Dani and Holden actually meet each other but I found it to be hot. Just sayin'.

Dani doesn't back down from anyone and she will put you in your place if you direspect anyone that she loves, even if your family. She is lost and unsure what life has in store for her. She's not looking for a relationship and when her ex boyfriend from high school, Gage, makes it known how he still feels for her, she puts it out there that in no way will there ever be anything between them except friendship. Yes, she still finds him attractive and that she loves him but it's not the same love from years back. She's tired of where she works at and wants a change but she's stuck....that is until Holden shows up.

At first I didn't know whose team I would be on. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know. Crazy for me not to know right off the bat but what can I say....Gage is pretty hot but the moment that Dani and Holden meet up again after that one night at the bar....I knew that I would be HashtagTeamHolden! "I'm naming that one Dani Jo, because just how it brings extra light to the night sky, you do the same to my life." And one of the sexiest and steamy scenes from SMFM? The Dock scene. I want a Dock just to have handy for you know what. *waggles eyebrows* Maybe I will just build one behind my house with a huge kiddy pool at the end of the dock since I live in town and not out in the country and fill it with inflatable fishies.

A little, itty bitty part of me had a little hope for Gage but his ass was just shady as fuck and when I found out why, well there went my little, itty bitty hope for him.

Adyn just cracked me up! One of the best lines evah?

"What's up, Hooker?" she asks as she walks behind me to clock in.
"Same shit, different day. You, slut?"
"Same dick, different day," she replies and I laugh.

I hope we get more from her. *keeping fingers crossed*

Save Me From Me is the first book that I have read from Erika and let me tell you that it won't be the last. Her writing is addicting and I want more.
