This is the story of what happens when best laid plans fail, and a vengeful woman is forced to find her own way once again. A bond broken, trust shattered, and too many lies to keep track of find Marc and Lily all out of plans and running out of time. Can they find their way back to each other before trouble finds them first, or is it really the end of their journey?
If this NOVEL were a MOVIE, it would have an R rating from the MPAA. Contains: Violence, Grisly Images, Strong Language, Nudity, and Graphic Sexual Content.
Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ..., forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
I was a little disappointed.... only because I thought this would be more bout Kingsley Law. Is he in it? yes... but their 6 month stint together is wrapped up in like 2 chapters. I would have loved to see some chemistry build between him and Lily, even if we know they're not meant for each other, friendship chemistry is just as important. Then he leaves the book for awhile, only to return as a third wheel (ok, ok, their dynamics are intense and hilarious all at once). I was really, really anticipating a HEA for him. I know this really has nothing to do with the storytelling, which is fantastic as always, but more of me projecting what I thought, and strongly hoped for, the book was going to be about. What can I say, i have mad love for Law!! <3
That being said.... This was just as action packed, fast paced as the first book with new characters (villains), new locale. and new weapons...ok maybe not, Kingsley loves Sheila. Lily has grown even more under Kingsley's wing into a stronger more independent woman, who literally kicks all kinds of ass. She kicks Marc's ass up and down that jungle! I don't blame her, he's such a stubborn bastard.
I really loved Ledo as a side character, he was pretty fun, once he was on the "right" side. I was secretively hoping he and Law would get something going (that's the gay man in me thinking!!). The main villain though he's a tough bastard to kill...but I think it just makes it more worth it in the end. I loved the scene at the end, where all three of them were sitting there bloody and broken, sharing a smoke and having a laugh. They made it out alive and together and that's all that mattered.
I really, really hope we get a full on Law book with his own sort of happy ending...he deserves it. <3
