Reviews- Wallflowers: Three of a Kind by C.P. Smith

“Romance and poetry, ivy, lichens, and wallflowers, need ruin to make them grow.” ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

They say money is the root of all evil, but sometimes, evil lurks in the most unlikely places.

Calla Lily Armstrong spent her whole life shielding her heart. Now she's ready to break down her walls and see what's hiding on the other side. With the help of her new friends, Poppy Gentry and Sienna Miller, the three band together to find their happily ever after. One Wallflower at a time.

Former Atlanta Homicide Detective, Devin Hawthorne, moved to Savannah for a change of pace and a fresh start as a Private Investigator. He finds it right under his nose in the form of a Southern beauty who drives him to distraction, and deadly secrets that threaten her very life.

Calla Lily Armstrong has closed herself off from living a full life after the death of her parents and brother when she was a child. She was raised by her two paternal aunts, who adore her and want her to explore what life has to offer. She's also been forced to spend time with her manipulative paternal grandparents, although she doesn't really realize their manipulation until now. Devin Hawthorne has moved into the apartment across from Cali, and she's instantly drawn into him, much like he is to her. Devin is a former detective who has come to Savannah to start his own private investigations firm.

Devin catches a case of a missing woman, which Cali is mysteriously entangled in. The mystery surrounding this story kept me intrigued, although I wasn't overly surprised by who the villian(s) turned out to be. Cali really finds herself throughout this story and we see her blossoming into a strong woman, capable of handling everything that was thrown at her.

I will say, if you're not a fan of insta-love or near insta-love, then this book may not be for you, but I think it was done really well. Sometimes, when the right person comes along, you just know and in their case, it was there.

Cali's friends Poppy and Sienna kept things light and fun at times, and I can't wait for both of them to find their fellas....although I think I know who each of them will end up with. I'll definitely continue the series as their stories become available.

I've never started a review with an emoji, but I felt this book deserved my first.

First let me start out by saying this book's cover is gorgeous. It leads you to believe you are about to embark on a magical, lovey-dovey journey about sweet love shared by two people whose souls were created for each other. Well scratch all that sappy crap and get ready for all kinds of other good stuff! The best I can describe this story is Nancy Drew meets the 3 Stooges meets C.O.P.S. (♫♪ bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gunna do? ♫♪...)

Calla Lily Armstrong is a sweet woman who experienced a great loss as a child and a certain emptiness that remained the rest of her life. Along comes Devin, "the Devil", Hawthorne to show her just how special she really is. Devin is a sexy, rough around the edges ex-cop turned P.I. who stumbles across his first case after moving to Savannah, GA which inadvertently involves the lovely Cali who also happens to be his neighbor.

I've liked all of CP's books and this one is no different. We have a hot alpha hero, throw in a couple more sexy side characters and two crazy and sassy girlfriends and we have a hit! I'm also very excited for the release of the next two books in this series. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, and I honestly give it 4 stars.
