When Life Happened by Jewel E. Ann
Publication Date: June 5th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Parker Cruse despises cheaters. It might have something to do with her boyfriend sleeping with her twin sister.
After a wedding day prank involving a strong laxative, that ends the already severed relationship between the twins, Parker decides to grow up and act twenty-six.
Step One: Move out of her parents’ house.
Step Two: Find a job.
Opportunity strikes when she meets her new neighbor, Gus Westman. He’s an electrician with Iowa farm-boy values and a gift for saying her name like it’s a dirty word.
He also has a wife.
Sabrina Westman, head of a successful engineering firm, hires Parker as her personal assistant. Driven to be the best assistant ever, Parker vows to stay focused, walk the dog, go to the dry cleaners, and not kiss Gus—again.
Step Three: Don’t judge.
Step Four: Remember— when life happens, it does it in a heartbeat.

SHANDA'S 4 STAR REVIEW
When Life Happened is the story of Parker Cruse and her quest to find her way in the world. On the way she falls in love and it gets very messy. Parker was a really likable and loveable character. She was funny and quirky and it wasn’t hard to see why men want her. Gus was amazing too. As soon as he hit the page I loved him and my heart hurt for him. Parker detests cheaters; her ex cheated on her with her sister and she is still angry over it. But things get messy when Parker starts to work for Gus’s wife Sabrina. Being around Gus is a struggle and she starts to see how lines can blur and how it would be possible to cheat.
Fair warning; the 40% mark is going to blow your mind. I would try to avoid spoilery social media posts or reviews. Somebody is bound to ruin the big reveal. All in all I really enjoyed When Life Happened. I had a couple of things that I thought were missing so this kept it from being a 5 star for me. I wanted a convo between Gus and Sabrina during that event. I wanted to see what was occurring between them during this scene; you will understand when you get there. I understand this was mainly Parker’s story but I felt it was needed. I also thought the last half was cute but Parker didn’t really go anywhere. Did she ever get a job? That career she really wanted seemed pushed to the wayside.
If you like fun heroines, steaminess, and big surprises then you should check this out. But.......for some of you this book may cause you to throw your kindle. Good Luck! *wink wink*
AMY'S 4 STAR REVIEW
It's difficult to write an appropriate review without giving too many details in the story away. Parker hates cheaters....and that's a central issue in the story line. Life happens and Parker must find ways to adapt to each new facet that pops up in her life. I loved that Parker knew who she was as a person and wasn't afraid of pursuing her happiness. The twists and turns thrown at Parker may have brought another person to their knees, but she keeps fighting through and eventually finds herself exactly where she wanted to be and what she's been striving towards for such a long time. Overall, a really good story.
