BLOG TOUR ~ Brotherhood of Misfits Book One: Roc by Khai Bayne

]
Title: Brotherhood of Misfits, Book One: ROC
Author: Khai L. Bayne
Genre: Romantic Suspense, Mystery
Tour Host: DRC Promotions

Synopsis:

What would you do with a second chance at life?
Would you go back to the same things that you were doing before, or would you embrace that chance and take a new path?
Being the byproduct of a single parent home growing up, I learned quickly that life wasn’t easy and it damn sure wasn’t fair. I was faced with a choice back then; continue to stand back and watch my mother struggle with working three jobs to pay bills, put food in our stomachs, and clothes on our backs or do something about it. I chose to do something about it and for three years everything was going well, until the day that my life changed forever.
When I met Jethro-Elijah ‘Eli’ Shepard, he told me that just because I wasn’t given a choice in how my life was dealt to me, didn’t mean that I’m not given a chance. He showed me that no matter what people say about you and what life throws your way, that you always have the option to either accept it or defy the odds to become something greater.
My name is Archibald ‘Roc’ Rochester and when I was seventeen, I was given my second chance. How did it turn out? Well, you’ll just have to read my story to find out.
********This book is intended for mature audiences. It is a Fucked Up Ever After so the road to the end is not all pretty shit and unicorn farts. It contains scenes of domestic abuse and violence. If these types of scenes are a trigger or sensitive subject to anyone, please do NOT purchase. This book also contains sexual situations that are not suitable for anyone under age.********

4 reasons to read this book
1- Sev
2- Lonny
3- Jinx
4- Sev

While the main focus was RoC and Kenika, those 3 stole the show for me.. of course m/f/m would, wouldn't it? HaHa!

Of course nothing really happens between them....yet.. and I think the next book is going to be awesome. Sev is such a badass (p.s.. what is she? Asian or Jamaican?? I'm so confused!!) Lonny aka Eidolon, was a complete surprise and Jinx is my nerdy nerd. <3

Back to Roc and Kenika. I'll be honest, I haven't read much interracial books, but I gotta say, these two are awesome together.
Some of the slang was a bit hard to read (Jamaican included) but it added to the personalities of the characters. No two characters were alike either, which I loved. Well, Tobias not so much, maybe he'll grow on me. I really want to know more about Paul (I love me a ginger) and of course, the 3 I named above.

The story went into different POV's, some Roc, some Kenika, and even a few from the side characters. Which was fine, except sometimes you didn't know it switched to another character, so you had to guess who it was, which could be done after a sentence or two, but a title would have helped.

I thought the story definitely had the mystery/suspense thing going on. The things that Kenika has gone through, is heartbreaking, and for her past to come and haunt her like that, had me on the edge of my seat. She's lucky to have had Roc, he was exactly that, a rock...and of course Sev. Seriously, when's her book coming out!?!?

All in all, I give the story a 3.5, because the anticipation for the next book has become very high.

***Given as an ARC for my honest review***
