Synopsis
Sometimes two broken pieces make a whole.
He’s the one she’s always loved.
She’s the one he could never have.
A forbidden night of passion resulted in years of heartbreak when he walked away. Now she’s in danger and needs his help.
Trust doesn’t come easy for FBI Agent Nick Stone, especially when it comes to love, but he’ll risk it all for Katelyn Slade.
Including his heart.
Bullets fly, betrayals are exposed, and the flames from their past ignite.
His protection might be what saves her but in the end she will be his salvation.
This is Book two in the Acts Of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men Of Honor. It’s Nick and Katelyn’s story and is told in dual POV, has an HEA with no cliffhanger and it can be read as a standalone. However, I highly recommend that you read the Men Of Honor series prior, as characters play recurring roles in both series.
Excerpt
He begins moving inside of me with slow, exquisite strokes, his eyes never leaving mine. He looks at me in a way I’ve longed to have someone look at me my whole life. Like I matter, like I’m important…like I am more. When it’s time for him to go back this is what I’ll remember. This is what I’ll keep close to me on the nights I ache for him, to remember that someone looked at me like this once. Even if I don’t get it for a lifetime, it’s better than not getting it at all.
Just like the man himself.
Reaching up, I cup his strong, stubbly jaw. He encircles my wrist and kisses the inside of it, right over my tattoo.
No words needed.
As more tears begin to fall he leans down and catches them with his lips. “Feel me, Kate. Feel nothing but me.”
“I do. You’re all I feel.”
“Just us,” he whispers.
“Just us.”

I haven’t read a K.C. Lynn book in a while. I read all the Men of Honor books but it’s taken me a while to get back K.C.’s alpha world. If you are like me and love a good second chance love story An Act of Salvation will probably do the trick.
Katelyn and Kolan grew up in Montana and became friends with Nick Stone. Nick and Kolan are best friends that have a falling out due to issues with Katelyn, as well as Kolan spiraling out of control. Nick leaves to join the FBI, leaves Katelyn with a broken heart, and Kolan angry. The brother and sister soon move to Charleston to start a new life. Kolan has made a career in fighting and Katelyn is doing well with her salon. Things take a turn when Kolan is accused of rape and goes on the run. She believes in her brother and turns to Nick to help her find Kolan before things get worse.
I really liked Katelyn she was sassy and feisty. The chemistry between her and Nick is still strong because feelings don’t die that easily and things were never resolved. So on top of trying to find Kolan they are dealing with old hurts and their attraction. Nick has major commitment issues stemming from his abandonment as a child. Katelyn knows being with him is going to end up hurting her but she wants to fight for him.
The story had a ton of smoking hot sex scenes, bullets, car chases, and some tears. I especially choked up over the letter! You will have to read to find out but it was really emotional. My only frustrations were the phrase “you are more” it kind of grated on me after a while. And Nick was so freaking stubborn I wanted to punch him.
I can’t wait for Kolan’s book I am really intrigued by him and his story. Well Done!
