`*BLOG TOUR*~ Rusty Nailed by Alice Clayton

In this sequel to Wallbanger, the second book in the Cocktail series, fan favorites Caroline and Simon negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in San Francisco.

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on her honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel on Sausalito. So with her hotshot photographer boyfriend gallivanting all over the world for his job, she and Simon are heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. Neither has any complaints about the great reunion sex, though! Then Simon decides he’s tired of so much traveling, and he’s suddenly home more. A lot more. And wanting Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort their relationship out. Neither wants “out of sight, out of mind,” but can they create their own happy mid-ground cliché?

USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy cocktail of a book, shaking up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving sizzling romance straight up

What a great follow up to book 1, Wallbanger.
Caroline is as funny as ever, Simon's as sexy and easy going as ever, & Clive is still ever the king of his domain(s).

In this book Caroline and Simon find out what it means to be "grown ups". His past come back for him, in turn, changing the course of their future.

Only Alice can me me laugh then cry, then laugh again in 5 seconds flat. And do you recall a little Clive epilogue last time? Yeah, well.... Alice never fails to deliver the goods.
((perhaps i should have kept that to myself??))

4 bangin stars!

This book begins in the fairytale land of sex and baking. Caroline and Simon are doing great. He still travels all the time with his job, but they make it work.
I still get goose bumps when I ponder this. I'm Simon's girlfriend. He was once the Harem Master, and now I'm his girlfriend.

Simon's hot! You go girl!

Then, things start to go a little wonky. Real life begins to interfere with their lovefest. Caroline's boss goes on an open-ended honeymoon leaving her in charge. Simon faces his past for the first time since his parents died and he graduated high school. His way of thinking changes. He's around more and Caroline's not. This leads to buried issues, and we know how much trouble Caroline has with those. Also, Clive is in the mix, watching everything from his window seat, leaving his mark for sure.

All their crazy friends are involved which manages the comedy. Nightie Girl and Wallbanger handle the sexy. The steamy and funny were great, but the best to me personally was the sweet Simon/Clive scenes.
Tucked into the one corner of the bed I typically allowed him was Simon, still sleeping off his long trip home. Curled into a ball behind Simon's knees, Clive opened one eye and registered that I was home. He flicked one ear and stretched his back out, tucking himself tighter into his favorite spot.

When I finally came out, my Wallbanger was dead to the world and telling everyone about it with his snores. Next to him? Clive. Making the most ridiculous little kitty snores.

So Clive was now a country cat. And he had a stay-at-home daddy.

One chilly night I came home late and found Simon holding Clive up to the window, making paw prints where it was foggy and talking about how far away the city of San Francisco was.

Are those 2 just too adorable or what?

Clive may be more like his daddy than we even thought...

I appreciated the make-me-die-laughing humor of book 1. And in this book I appreciated the lovableness of it all. <3

I was stoked when I discovered that Alice Clayton was giving us more Caroline & Simon....
Wallbanger was one of my top reads last year and I was looking forward to finding out how life was going for this kinda unconventional pair!!

Rusty Nailed shows us a growing-up, slightly more serious couple. At the same time, they're both still loads of laughs and as funny as before, both as smokin' hot for each other as ever and we have more comedy texting and baking innuendo.... What a great mix!!!! .......

This time round we see a different side to them. Spending more time together, sorta living together as they house sit while their friends are off on their honeymoon, taking on more responsibilities and facing up to things that need addressing.... Can they adapt to the changes they're currently facing?

We once again met up with Mimi & Ryan, Jillian & Benjamin and Sophia & Neil - there's also a few new faces added into the mix - all entertaining and some give us a little more insight to our fave couple....
Sadly not everything in the Land of Couples is plain sailing but then, who ever said growing up was easy?!?!

Clive, that crazy ball of feline madness is back in all his glory - creating more mischief!!

Alice has given us a fantastic sequel to Wallbanger and I had a ball reading more about my favourite Hot Photographer and his Nightie Girl!!!

If you've read the first book you have to grab yourself a copy of Rusty Nailed and get reading. If you haven't yet read Wallbanger, where have you been hiding?!?!

A solid 4.5* read for me!!!!

  1. I really loved Wallbanger but I'm always a little afraid of follow-up books, sometimes they don't measure up. Glad to see you didn't think so, I have to read that one ! Thanks for the review :)
