Review Cooper, Corps Security series by Harper Sloan

Title: Cooper
Author: Harper Sloan
Series: Corps Security
Release Date: June 20th 2014

Synopsis

Do you take me seriously? Because I don’t. I use my jokes and easygoing personality to hide the pain I’ve felt since he took his last breath. I’m adrift without my partner in crime, my best friend…my brother. I can taste the vengeance just within my grasp.

Until she barges into my life. Promising me happiness and a peace I’ve been craving for years. She is the sun to my darkness, the happy to my despair.

But she holds secrets. Just like I do. She holds hers close, where I just pray mine don’t rock the walls we’re trying to build.

Now I’m stuck at a crossroads between my desire for revenge and my craving for her and the life we could have together—and I have no idea which road I should travel.

All I know with crystal clear certainty is that the past has the power to destroy it all.

About the Author

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husbands chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero--the super alpha kind!

Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.

Review

"No one knows what it's like to lose the other part of your goddamn life. No one."

I have been a fan of these books, of the Corps Security guys from the very beginning. It quickly became a favorite series of mine. We gradually got to know all of the characters because Harper never failed to tease us with snippets from what may or will come. *cough* Locke *cough*
I love all of them, I do, even though my fave is Locke and second is Beck. I also loved Zeke Cooper and I was devastated with the outcome in Beck. If you're a fan of the series, if you've read it, you know what I'm talking about. I didn't understand why that happened but now that I read Cooper, I kinda do. It just wasn't meant to be for the care-free, laid-back man-whore that was Zeke Cooper to fall in love and settle with a woman. Too many issues, as he had told John Beckett in Beck, before the tragedy.
Also in Beck we are briefly introduced to Asher Cooper, big brother of Zeke Cooper. He storms not only into the hospital, but into Chelcie's life, as well. Chelcie, who's pregnant with Zeke's baby and couldn't tell him. And found it very hard to tell Ash too.
I liked them, both individually and as a couple. Ash is very different from Zeke but he fits perfectly into the CS family. He's badass, he's hot and even though he's a little lost and in the dark, he finds a ray of sunshine and gets back on the right track.

"I'm lost right now. Trapped in a black hole of nothing. Coop was the last thing I had, the last something real. With him gone, I just don't know what to live for."

He damn. Near. Killed. Me. There were scenes when my heart was breaking, because we not only get glimpses of Ash and Zeke's past, but we also get to see Ash's struggle of trying to accept that his brother is no more. Which is very hard, not only for him and the characters, but for the reader, as well. Harper made me cry with a certain scene; couldn't blame it on having something in my eye.

Suffice to say, I loved it. I thought Beck was the best yet but I'm thinking Cooper tops even that one, or maybe is on the same level. Locke will be the one to top both, because well, he's Maddox Locke.

How can you NOT love this man?

5 *GOLDEN GLITTER* stars. No, I couldn't leave Sway out of it. Read it. Don't worry, it won't disappoint.

"You make sure and keep that damn light shining bright on him. You give a broken man like me hope that there might be something to be said about trusting that blaze that fights a man's demons." ~ Maddox Locke

*sniff sniff*

BRING ON LOCKE!

  1. I loved Axel and Cage, but I'm afraid the author lost me with Beck, I'm not certain I can stand all that drama any more... :(

  2. There's bound to be a little drama. Some characters have more scars. Plus, some things happen, just like in real life. :)
