Review Slack: A Day in the Life of Ford Aston by JA Huss

Title: Slack: A Day in the Life of Ford Aston
Author: JA Huss
Series: Rook & Ronin spin-off
Publication Date: December 18th 2013

Synopsis

Ford Aston is not too picky about what he wants out of Christmas. He’s not into this holiday—like at all. He doesn’t do presents, or family dinners, or parties, or church.

He does pets. And he’s got one lined up for Christmas Eve. In fact, it’s the highlight of his day. And if he can get through drop-in visits, nosy twelve year olds, an inappropriate conversation with his best friend’s girlfriend, dinner with a family that’s not his, and a party at his mother’s house—well, he might just get home in time to enjoy himself with a stranger and make it all OK.

SLACK: A Day in the Life of Ford Aston, is a prequel to TAUT: The Ford Book, and can be read as a standalone novella.

SLACK releases on December 18, 2013 and TAUT releases on January 20, 2014

Review

"I want love more than anything, yet everyone thinks I'm insufferable."

Oh, Ford, I love you, I do. Asshole or not. Insufferable or not. With those fetishes of yours that normally make me cringe or grit my teeth at other books. <--- Ya see? True love, right there.

Jokes aside, this novella broke my heart. By the end of it, re-reading the epilogue that was found at the end of Panic [Rook & Ronin #3] I was kaput. This was one day from Rutherford Aston's life - I love that name - but man, was it emotional! Roller coaster-like. And poor Ford, getting a huge wake-up call AND a smack across the face.

I just want him to be happy and finally stop comparing his life to his friends', especially Ronin's and have all that his devilishly wicked heart desires. Because Ford Aston deserves that and so much more.

4 1/2 stars for one of the few suited up rich guys that managed to worm his way into my heart.
