This Time Around is about how if you fight for what you really want and need, you'll have it. 

We've met Ryan Knox in Maybe This Time. He's the flirtatious, man-whore twin brother of Reid Knox. The two can't be more opposites, yet they somehow are the same. They both fight and don't give up until they get what they want. In both cases, it was a woman. For Reid, Summer, whereas for Ryan it's his wife, Taiya. So you see, Ryan's situation is a little bit different because he had Taiya but lost her because of a misunderstanding. 

I was skeptical at first. I didn't think he'd come around. I mean, the way he was going through women in Maybe This Time? Yeah, hard to see how a guy who's a major playboy can truly be loyal.

Well, I'm happy to say he proved me wrong. He even grew on me. Not that I didn't like him in Maybe This Time. I did. But from the epilogue we got from MTT, I was sure he'd somehow mess up or do something to annoy me. Well, he didn't. 

He's pretty wow :)

Taiya is a strong female lead, she takes crap from no one, that's for sure and I like that even though she was scared of giving her marriage another shot, she did just that. I also like her idea of 'punishing' Ryan whenever one of his conquests reminded her he hadn't been a saint while she had been away. She's perfect for Ryan. I like how things work out. I like that it's not full of drama, it's not drawn-out and they don't end up fighting and making up 90% of the book. Because it's not just about them. It's also about other characters. We get to meet new ones but I'm not saying who. You'll have to read to see for yourself.

All in all, I give this book four stars. It wasn't long, it wasn't too short. It was the perfect length and, as I already mentioned, drama-free with hot guys and funny female characters.

Review
This book is pretty blunt.  It gets right to the gritty of the situation.  I guess I'd classify it as a spy/BDSM storyline, but it's more than just that.  It's very frank, straightforward, no suppressing the brutal details.  They aren't told in a gory way, just no incidentals are left out.

There is a very descriptive sodomy scene that is explained in such a way that the reader knows exactly what happened and how it felt.  No inessential emotion holds back the characters.  They state the facts as is and just do their jobs.

So on the BDSM side, there are the above mentioned bits and several beatings which require medical attention.  On the spy side, there are the secret meetings and plans.  Everything seems quite legit.  The author is a vet and gay so I guess he knows his material.

I appreciate the author writing in a way that makes sense and isn't over dramatized.  Although I know this story isn't for everyone, I enjoyed it.  Also, I'm sure it is probably more realistic than many BDSM or spy books.

Brutally Beautiful is book 1 of a series.

LAWD LAWD!  SOMEBODY KNOWS HOW TO WRITE!!

This is a video of my brain cells while reading this book.

Honestly, I can't think of anything that I didn't love about this book.  It is full of action, mystery, humor and sexiness.  It is so not the same tired story, repackaged with garnish added.  The story is fresh. The writing style is mondo magnifico.  I was supremely entertained the entire time.  The characters are very well-developed, and the two main characters have riveting backgrounds.  I don't want to say anymore about that because you are suppose to not know and learn their past while reading.  I adore both of the main characters personalities.


Kade, oh Kade, how I love thee.  He's wealthy, self-made, damaged, gorgeous, dark...Need I go on?  No.  But I will.  Kade survived a tragedy at the age of 16.  Now he is a horror novel writer, and a pretty twisted individual, a weirdo (a sexy weirdo).

Words had always come easily to me.  Violence and hate were in my veins.  I was rage personified, and horror and malice were my only friends.  We had lived together peacefully since I came to terms with being me.

I wanted to scrape the words I've written off the white of the screen, grab them tightly in my hand and smash them against her face.  Have her feel my words against her flesh, smear them into her pores, and have them seep into her skin.

Lastly, I followed her; stalking the shit out of her.  Fuuuck, I'm twisted.  The thoughts about my behavior were even creepy to me.

"Bloody-Motherfucker-Wank-Shanking-Bugger!"

And Sam, OMG!  Someone alert the presses!  It is actually possible to write a strong female lead that doesn't beg you to jump between the stanzas to slap her!  She is one lovely badass!  Seriously this chick is fab-u-lous!

Let me translate:  small trailer, one bedroom with two single beds and I don't cherish watching live porn.  Or having threesomes, for that matter.  I would think that they took way too much coordination, way too much thought on where to put my elbows, and one more wet spot to worry about.  Oh, and I am way too competitive, because if I didn't score the winning shot, I'd be pissed off.

"That is the most arrogant, condescending, male chauvinistic and patronizing mansplaining bullshit I have ever heard."

"You know what they say, having a small dick is the leading cause of acting like a big one."

It reminded me of how easily any emotion can fade and shift into something you never believed you could feel.  In a blink of an eye, fear could turn to bravery, happiness could turn to disaster and hate could turn to love.

This book is going to be one of the top reads for 2014.  I guarantee it.  I love it, and I'm waiting on pins and needless for book 2 (there is a preview of book 2 at the end of book 1).  No, this isn't a true CH, but it does leave a whole lot unanswered while also leaving you begging for more.

Review of Their Virgin Captive
As you can see, this book is book 1 of a series.  It would be classified as BDSM/Ménage.

This isn't the type of book written to change the way you see the world or alter your future.  This was written to fulfill a fantasy.  You're a lowly virgin assistant to a powerful, dominate man who has two Dom brothers.  All of them seem to be vying for your attention.  But you love them all.  How could you ever choose?  No worries cause their plans include the four of you together.

Also, to give it some dept, there is a killer stalker after you.  And your only safety is in the arms of your three tough, smart, rich Masters.

So if you want to read about a fantasy that you most likely will never get the chance to experience in real life, this is the book for you.
