Review- Nico by Sarah Castille

A dangerous proposal

Las Vegas Mafia boss, Nico Toscani, is used to getting what he wants, whether it is having the City of Sin under his rule or a beautiful woman in his bed. But when he meets his match in the gorgeous, headstrong Mia Cordano, the daughter of a rival crime lord, all bets are off. . .

Sexy computer hacker, Mia, struggles to break free of her ruthless father’s Mafia ties…but she can’t resist the powerful and seductive Nico, who will stop at nothing to possess her. With their families locked in a brutal war for control of the city, Mia and Nico enter into a forbidden game. Will they surrender to the passion that burns between them—and risk tearing apart their families? Or will Nico be forced to betray the only woman who sets his blood on fire?

Mia Cordano is a reluctant and rebellious Mafia princess; she rarely (if ever) does what is asked of her by her father and wants nothing more than to escape the mob life she was raised in. She's tired of their misogynistic ways and is setting out to prove that she's more than just a pretty face. She's also extremely protective of those she loves, especially her sister Kat. Nico Toscani is a typical mob boss. He prefers the old ways, where they made their money via protection rackets and ownership in property. He doesn't like the way his Uncle Santo has been running things since Nico's father's death ten years earlier; he doesn't agree with using their connections for the drug and sex trade.

Mia meets Nico when her computer hacking company is hired to perform a penetration test of their computer security. They both seem to recognize each other, but don't make the connection until later, that being that Mia was the girl Nico protected the night his father was killed. Their families have a lot of animosity towards each other from the events of that night. To ease the strain, Mia's father orders her to marry Nico's cousin, Tony. Mia's father wishes to form an alliance to make their families stronger.

When Mia doesn't obey her father's commands, she is punished. Up until now, Mia has taken all the punishment her father doles out, but when he goes after a different target, Mia decides to take control; she decides she will marry a Toscani, but wants to marry Nico. She propositions him, and after an initial denial, Nico realizes he has an innate need to protect Mia from her family and believes he's the person for the job.

Nico and Mia do have chemistry and their marriage of convenience quickly turns into something stronger. The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat....and now I'm going to be anxiously awaiting Luca's story.
