Review
Broken Pieces is book 1 of a series. It is broken into 3 parts.
Part 1 is the story of Josiah and Mateo.
Josiah is an introvert, quietly observing his surroundings. I love his internal monologues.
Hear me. Hear what I'm saying, he pleaded in his head. Want me, too.
Mateo has grown up rough. It's all he's ever known. Somehow they form a relationship which brings out the fire in Josiah and the protector in Mateo.
"I want it to be better for you."
They run away vowing to do whatever is necessary to remain together.
"We can take away those memories with us."
Part 2 is the story of Josiah and Tristan.
Years have passed. Josiah and Mateo were tragically separated. Josiah can't seem to move past his heartbreak.
"It's my birthday," he whispered. That's when he gave me the queen. He said it's because I was the strongest person he knew."
He loved Teo. He always would. But he was letting that love kill him, letting it make him weak.
Tristan is a hotshot rich lawyer who came from nothing and went through hell to make it where he is today. His past has left him empty.
"Well, that's just silly. Everyone wants to be loved, Tristan."
Everyone wanted to be loved? Not him.
They stumble into a haphazard relationship which continuously evolves. Both are good for and strengthen the other.
Part 3 is the story of Josiah, Mateo and Tristan.
Josiah and Mateo were in the kind of love that last forever. Josiah and Tristan have finally gotten to a good point in their relationship. Now both are in Josiah's life and ready to commit.
"There has never been anyone in my life who loved me except the two of you. I will never love anyone except the two of you."

I appreciate a good story where you live out your fantasies. Even though they don't seem plausible, they still fulfill the reader's inner desires. That is what I was expecting when I read this story. But that is not what I got. This story was not light fluff. It really touched me. The messages were deep and believable. I can't image that is easily accomplished so kudos to the author. And I'm looking forward to reading more.
