Author: JA Huss

TRAGIC #1

Rook got a second chance.

And she took it. Because when fate throws you a bone – you grab it with both hands and run.

Antoine Chaput knows the minute he spies Rook in his photography studio that she’s got The Look. The dark and desperate look he must have to land the exclusive TRAGIC media contract.

Review

Loved this book!

Loved Rook, loved/hated/loved Roonin and oh boy, Spencer and Ford! I really can't decide which one I love most!
Rook had it rough, she was in a bad place but when she realized, she ran. And I applaud her because facing her problems, head-on, alone, wouldn't have gone well.
So, she ends up getting a modeling career when all seems lost and is introduced to a world she knew nothing about. She's also introduced to people willing to be her friends and more *cough* Roonin *cough*
Read it, you won't be sorry!

4 1/2 stars!

MANIC #2

Synopsis

TRAGIC is over and Rook is ready for the future—Spencer Shrike and the STURGIS contract!

It’s three months of body art modeling! That means three months of Spencer Shrike’s paintbrush all over her body, three months in front of Antoine’s camera, and three months of twenty-four hour filming for Spencer’s Biker Channel reality show.

Wait a minute…what reality show? Maybe she should’ve read that STURGIS contract a little closer? ;)

Sure, Rook’s bank account is almost overflowing, but Ronin is angry, Clare is trying to escape rehab, Antoine is a worried mess, and Elise is just trying to hold everyone together. Her new family is about to fall apart before she even gets the chance to enjoy them.

Add in a mysterious man from her past, a road trip to the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and a final show in front of the entire world where all her goods are on display, and you’ve got Manic—a new adult contemporary romance that will definitely make your summer sizzle!

 Review

Another good one, another 4 1/2 gladly given for a great book!

Rook's adventures, so to say, continue in Manic, the second book of the trilogy. We get to know more about Spencer and Ford. Oh, Ford, you suited gorgeous bastard, you! *whispering* I'm not a runner but I'd sure as heck run with him, any time!
Fact is, remember how Rook ran away from her past? Well, her past caught up to her and it gets ugly but she gets her closure, so all's well.
Jealousy, hot scenes, crazy exes, both the interesting and the psycho kind.
This series is a definite WIN!

P.S. I'm not a fan of trilogies, in general and especially not if it's with the same couple but you know there's always an exception to every rule. Well, Rook and Ronin are MY exception and hallelujah for that!

PANIC #3

Synopsis

Rook is chasing her dream—film school and a chance at a life beyond the one she ran from six months ago. But before she can become the girl she wants to be, she must deal with the girl she left behind.
Ronin is also chasing his dream—a family of his own and a life away from erotic modeling. And he too, has a past he’s trying to forget. A past that makes Rook question everything about their life together.
Lies, secrets, and shocking trusts will rock the foundation Rook and Ronin have built. Can they put the past behind them and move forward together? Or is this just another too good to be true relationship that will crash and burn in the end?

Review

Wow. I'm awed by this last part! It was the best of all three, in my opinion. It was the huge boom in the entire storyline, the climax and conclusion making me tip my hat in front of JA Huss.
If you've read the first two, you know what it's about. You know that the author gives us bits and pieces of the characters' pasts. Rook and her abusive ex. Ronin, Spencer and Ford and their genius con-plans. Well, in this one, we find out much more, in details, what happened to whom and, let me tell you, it made my stomach twist in a few places, especially the things Rook went through.
Ronin. Love him. I need a guy like him because he's patient and he truly loves Rook and even though they don't see eye-to-eye on their future plans, he decides to wait it all out. For her. Who does that? I'll tell you who, Ronin freaking Flynn, that's who.

"I belong to Ronin."
"And I belong to Rook."

"I love the fuck out of you, ya know." ~ Ronin

Spencer. Our bad boy biker. How can you not love him? He's funny and he's there for Rook, through thick and thin. He may have had a small crush on her but he realized her friendship means much more to him than him trying to take her away from Ronin. Which wouldn't have worked, FYI.
And Ford. This man turned my world on its axis. Why? Because I rarely like the suited up, rich arrogant bastard type. The lifestyle he lives is NOT my thing. I don't like reading about it. Yet, Ford Aston - Rutherford Aston - made me fall for him. Once again, I'd like to tip my imaginary hat to the author because the ending of the book just about killed me and I can't wait to read more about him.
A whirlwind of events. Pasts catching up on everyone because sweeping it under the rug is clearly not the solution. We meet new characters - I fell for Vic Vaughn, one of the Sick Boys - and we get to see others start a true HEA - Antoine and Elise.

All in all, I love this team, the Rook/Ronin/Spencer/Ford team.

"And we're a team, he said. It doesn't have to be me against the world. Because I'm part of the team." ~ Rook

Oh and a P.S. You know how it's always the guy saving the day? Pffft. Rook totally did that.

Four and a half stars.
